My Best Arizona Attempt

Created by: TMLBRIAN
Team: 2022-23 Arizona Coyotes
Initial Creation Date: May 29, 2022
Published: May 29, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Right around cap min but wayyyy under on actually dollars owed for many years because of Webers contract.

Thoughts?

This team is severely bad. But they would have a lot of futures. If I were them I would do EVERYTHING I could to prepare for Matthews free agency. Which they may be doing. Having 2nd + 3rd overall this year could be a good start at making that happen.

I also didn't fix the lines.

Sabres really don't need any LWs so I don't think they would be interested. Sabres are really looking for Goalies, RHD, and maybe a center. I'd they can get a top 6 RW they may be interested in that as well.

Chychrun is worth a lot but 2nd overall has to be more valuable than him straight up.

he is probably worth 5-7th overall. So adding a 30-32 overall for it and a later round pick sounds quite fair to me.

Value doesn't seem too off for Chychrun but I don't think he's a very good target for the Devils right now.

Chychrun's main selling point is top pairing talent at a very low cap hit.
That means that the team targeting him should be cap strapped and have an opening at LHD, as well as having a cup window spanning Chychrun's remaining three years.
The Devils have a ton of cap space, are not a contender now (and somewhat unclear when they will be), and doesn't have an immediate need for LHD improvement at LHD.
I also think that Chychrun is quite overrated and wouldn't want the Devils to trade for him anyway (certainly not the #2 pick), but that's beside the point.

I think the a better fit for a Chychrun trade would be the Blues as they imo are a top 10 team and will remain so for another 2-3 years, don't have too much cap to work with and could use an improvement at LHD.

Not sure I totally agree...Sabres need to add some size on the wing, I'd do it. Many Sabres ACGM's have Olofsson being traded and I don't agree with that but if it were to happen Crouse is a perfect fit.
Going to be interesting to see if both Peterka and Quinn make it or just one on the Sabres roster next year.

Sabres LW depth:
Skinner
Krebs (I don’t think he is a C at the NHL level).
Peterka
Asplund
Girgenson

Too much there, I think they add size at RW or a 4C.

Apslund and Girgensons have both played center before, and we’re not sure what they plan to do with the fourth line. If Buffalo can get Crouse for this little it would be stupid of them not to take it. They can easily bury Bjork in Rochester without much trouble if they can’t trade him away. Plus you could also use some depth for injuries.

Fantastic trade for the Habs!

Webers contract doesn;t help or hurt Montreal much. But the contract would be huge for Arizona. Montreal sheds cap from Byron (who also is owed less money than cap) and they get a 3rd. I can see this being a win for both teams to be honest.
