I get what you are doing, but there is so much wrong with this.

Barbashev puts up 60 points and you want to get him for a C prospect, a 2nd, and a 3rd? And you think someone's gping to retain on a 2M contract?

Blues would actually probably consider this as they want to create cap space and are deep up front

Wtf? Thats like saying the Knights should consider trading Stephenson. You create cap space by moving out players who are on fair or expensive contracts. Not guys producing well above their cap hit expectation

-Kerfoot and Holl trade values might be a little high but it's not egregious.

-I think St. Louis would want someone closer to NHL-ready to come back if they're moving Barbashev. He's a 60 point guy making $2.25M, I could see a dozen teams lining up to beat this offer if it came out that he was available.

-I can't see Washington doing this deal. Hathaway fits the type of game they like to play, and he only costs $1.5M this season. I don't think trading a player like that for a guy that Toronto most likely doesn't even qualify is a smart use of their assets.

-I can't see Chicago looking at the opportunity to move up 12 spots in a mediocre draft as reason enough to give up the rights to a 20 goal scorer. I also can't see Strome signing a deal that's lower than his qualifying offer ($3.6M).

I love Barby but he only has one season left, and they have more pressing needs at defense. Next off-season, O’Reilly, Thomas, Kyrou, and possibly Tarasenko if they keep him will need new deals too so resigning him will be quite difficult.

Give Barby away for cheap to gain a couple mill in cap space for one year ain;t exactly smart business.
