I like Suter, but I don’t think he has much value to Columbus as he is a middle 6 center and Columbus has plenty of those already.

Trade description says that it is contingent on Larkin agreeing to terms first.

Great. Let the "Larkin will be traded for a bunch of plugs" fantasy land trades begin on CFACGM. Just like the Bertuzzi ones.

I mean changing agents would never mean that Larkin wants to stay in Detroit. Kurt Overhardt has a reputation of never having players take a bit less to play where they want. It's always "get that bag so I can make more money on my agent fee!"

Whereas new agent Pat Brisson actually looks out for his players interest. But yeah. Larkin is gone. Let's fold the franchise! Red Wings aren't allowed to re-sign their best players! We're the Montreal Expos!

Red Wings re-signing Larkin and Bertuzzi would be blasphemy. It should be illegal. Red Wings need to be a feeder team for the rest of the NHL so I can go and make lowball rip-off trades on CFACGM and improve my team!

Larkin and Bertuzzi are rentals! They should both get nothing in return! They're bad players but we all want them on our teams!

Fun fact: The earliest Larkin can sign a contract extension is July 13 which is the first day of UFA.

So Larkin decides the best path to maximize his pay day is to give Detroit a haul and pick one team to negotiate with? The Kings give up so much for an unlikely team friendly contract? Why don't they just go after him next season for free?

Dude, chill out. I think deep down people know they are not getting moved but most people are a bit single-minded on this site.

Larkin for sure gets resigned, he's the 'C' and the best player. Burtuzzi is amazing but he may go (though probably not) on the basis that his injury history and playstyle will catch up with him. It could also be to save money for Seider and Raymond.

Larkin or any rental doesn't get that return. But even if Larkin moves on....let's say the Wings were set to pay him 8.5m but he rejected it....no big deal for Wings. Just spend that 8.5m. on another player.
That's the nature of UFAs....they come and go.

There's just no foresight. I remember Leaf fans believing Pietrangelo would do a sign and trade and be a Leaf. Or when Red Wings fans believed Detroit would wait for Trouba to be a UFA and get him for free!

Even when Yzerman says his first priority is to get Larkin signed to a contract extension and Larkin says he only thinks about playing for the Red Wings... they're both lying. "That's what they're supposed to say." So many geniuses. It's hard to believe they're not NHL GM's.

It's like the Petry to Detroit trades. Petry from Michigan. Must be Red Wing! Muzzin former LA King. Must be King!

Yeah, this site is tainted with trolls and bad trade bases. To me for a trade to happen both teams must believe that they are gaining something in return and that they are going to win the trade. You also have to have the foresight to see were the cap could go and the direction of the team that the team is going to go. Unfortunatly not many people on this site do it and we are worse for it.

I agree. And I've asked this question recently. When did Steve Yzerman become a complete moron? Each time he makes a trade or drafts a player it's "Stevie got fleeced." I heard it when he drafted Seider. I heard it again when he drafted Raymond. Edvinsson? "Should've taken Eklund!"

These same geniuses then jumped on the bandwagon after seeing Seider and Raymond play. "But why Cossa! I wanted blablabla!" You know. The same geniuses act like they're draft gurus for the month leading up to the draft? And all they're doing is plagerizing Craig Button and putting in their own words.

So I'll go out on a limb and say that I trust Steve Yzerman to do what is right for the Red Wings. Is he perfect? No. No GM is. All GM's make mistakes. Best ones make fewer ones than others. We're watching a Tampa team 8 wins from winning 3 consecutive Cups. That GM who apparently gets fleeced each time he does something had a lot to do with that.

At how much, what is the duration, you can't just offer up the Kings best prospect for some imaginary number.

Lmao i gotta come up with contract terms? This is a pretend scenario where yzerman wasnt prepared to sign him to a certain contract with where we are or whatever reason he has but with you guys coming up quicker than expected you are

I don’t know ... 9.25-9.5 x 8 ?

Have fun living in fantasy land. It is real life. Larkin is a real person. Hiring a new agent doesn't mean a player is leaving. Smarten up.

Nah we are good, Gaudreau and Forsberg are available at similar cap hits without shedding a single asset.

Zero chance Larkin gets traded. Larkin changed agents not necessarily to play hardball. A lot of guys (if not most) change agents and don't go anywhere.

Reasons for changing agents include wanting a different voice, difference in opinions in off ice work (agents don't just handle the hockey side, they handle the promo side too), maybe the agent ran his mouth about Bertuzzi (or Steve) and Larkin didn't like it, etc. Most reasons have nothing to do with hockey.

Stevie will sign Larkin to an 8*8.5M contract sometime after July 1st. No way Illitch let's the hometown captain leave, it's not the Red Wings way (not Steve's way either).

I guess you needed to add a trigger warning to this post my god. It’s not even that bad of a return for a top line center On an expiring contract. The former second overall pick isn’t something to slouch at. Especially one with byfields upside.

Some wings fans get brainwashed quite easily , im sure most of them think hes a hall of famer lmao. He’s got but calm down, i understand he’s all we got but doesnt mean he deserves 10 mill per . Byfield and a draft pick that can land you a brad lambert lets say would be a good haul for a young up and coming team with the likes of seider raymond edvinsson cossa already . Anyways nothing would ever be enough of a return
