I realize that, but the whole point of this site is to discuss things like that.
I respect that, bud.
Anderson's not on the block, but if he were, he wouldn't be traded with 50% retention for 5 years. I hate the contract, but here we are (thank you Bergevin - seriously, this guy basically set the house on fire before he left). If he moves, a bad contract comes back and that's fair game. My issue with the retention is that it'll basically cost close to 14M in dead money and the Habs will have to pay someone else to replace him; therefore, no money is being saved and they're paying him to play for a divisional rival. If I were an owner and my GM did that, I'd fire him immediately regardless of the return.
There's a ton of team bias on capfriendly from all the fanbases, but Anderson's a good player when healthy. He's big and fast and fearless. Some people simply look at points and say "hey, this guy sucks" and he doesn't get the love he deserves. They point to his lack of passing, but that's not his game. His game is to bear down and go to the net and score a few greasy goals. Every fan base would love this guy on their team. That said, I admit he doesn't fit with MTL's timeline. He'd be a fantastic addition and provide grit and secondary scoring on a contending team, though.
As for Knies, I just love the kid. The Leafs have a good one and I sort of hate the Habs for not making a move with their excess of picks to move up a few spots and nab him before Toronto got to him.
I doubt Anderson returns a Knies, but he doesn't go for nothing either.
Finally, sorry for the snark. Lots of negativity on this site (exhibit A: post #11 of the thread). I think I was just expecting more of the same.
Cheers
