i wouldnt love it either but i think you really are 5 years from competing, Weber, Price and Gallagher is a ton of cap that will be difficult to move. If anythign you are worse and can compete with the Yotes for Bedard

Leafs are not getting the 2OA pick for 2 years of Nylander.
That feels like an overpay for Anderson, maybe im overvaluing Knies though.
2OA is way too much for Bertuzzi.

I get you homie and Bedard would be a dream come true, but I can't think of any team retaining basically 14M in a trade.

But ACGM's are all make believe anyway, so why not?

Can’t have both in an Anderson trade. Well, actually you can’t have either probably. Just keep him, he’s not going to return good value with that contract.

I'm not the one trading him and you're not a hockey GM, but thanks for chiming in.

something comes back then. devils get a god cap hit for 2 years and he is cheaper than someone they will sign in FA. Honestly didnt even notice it was 2OA, been watching Oilers win playoff games awesome face

So ya I agree too much for bertuzzi. maybe another 2nd or late 1st back to flip for more help

Jake Muzzin isn't waiving for the dumpster fire Arizona Coyotes.

A bunch of me doesn't get Carson Soucy not even close.

The NJD aren't giving up the 2nd overall pick for 2 years of William Nylander get real here.

Josh Freaking Anderson isn't returning Matthew Knies not even close.

Detroit accepts, New jersey rejects.

Your UFA signings are a royal joke.

Vincent Trocheck will get close to $6,500,000 x 5 to 6 years rather easily.

Reportedly Nick Leddy wanted $4,500,000 x 4 years to remain in Detroit, there's no way he's taking your low ball one year deal.

Per Eliotte Friedman Jack Campbell was offered $3,000,000 x 2 to 3 years and turned it down. So he's not taking your low ball offer either which is lower than what Dubas had offered him.

Anderson actually can still play and provides something the leafs need and at 2.75 is worth it. I agree @ 5.5M its an overpay considering. I think on a good line like the one I have provided, he can actually score above his value (Bunting did on Matthews line)

I respect that, bud.

Anderson's not on the block, but if he were, he wouldn't be traded with 50% retention for 5 years. I hate the contract, but here we are (thank you Bergevin - seriously, this guy basically set the house on fire before he left). If he moves, a bad contract comes back and that's fair game. My issue with the retention is that it'll basically cost close to 14M in dead money and the Habs will have to pay someone else to replace him; therefore, no money is being saved and they're paying him to play for a divisional rival. If I were an owner and my GM did that, I'd fire him immediately regardless of the return.

There's a ton of team bias on capfriendly from all the fanbases, but Anderson's a good player when healthy. He's big and fast and fearless. Some people simply look at points and say "hey, this guy sucks" and he doesn't get the love he deserves. They point to his lack of passing, but that's not his game. His game is to bear down and go to the net and score a few greasy goals. Every fan base would love this guy on their team. That said, I admit he doesn't fit with MTL's timeline. He'd be a fantastic addition and provide grit and secondary scoring on a contending team, though.

As for Knies, I just love the kid. The Leafs have a good one and I sort of hate the Habs for not making a move with their excess of picks to move up a few spots and nab him before Toronto got to him.

I doubt Anderson returns a Knies, but he doesn't go for nothing either.

Finally, sorry for the snark. Lots of negativity on this site (exhibit A: post #11 of the thread). I think I was just expecting more of the same.

Cheers

I agree at 2.75 Anderson is pretty good and I would pay a lot for him, but MTzl probably isn’t going to retain 50% and Toronto isn’t giving up Knies, not to mention they are rivals so I don’t see a fit.

I agree Anderson is a good player. He’s just hot and cold and at full price I can’t see anyone giving up assets for him.

As for Knies, yes, he’s Torontos best prospect. I can’t see them giving him up except maybe for someone like Chuchryn. So for that matter, I can understand wanting him in a leafs trade.

And don’t worry about the negativity. You were being polite about it. I’ve seen far worse negativity on this site. You seem like a good guy.
