I think you could argue that Detroit would have to add a pick. Dvorak is the more established and better all around player. Gives Detroit a defensive minded C who wins faceoffs at a high rate. Montreal gets Fabbri who is better offensively, maybe fits what Martin St. Louis wants.

Wings will keep Fabbri as Drvoak is not a#2 center and only mucks up the 3rd and 4th line center position that Wings have covered with Rasmussen, Veleno and Suter.

The value is fine but it's more of a lateral move that I doubt either team would make.

Why would Montreal take fabbri, his knees are just shot. I'd do it though if Montreal said yes.

I’m thinking because Detroit needs to get more sound defensively. If all you’re giving up is Fabbri why not do it? It doesn’t have to be a long term option but it can help them start to take a step forward in the rebuild process. Dvorak will win 55% of faceoffs, is a big upgrade defensively and you don’t really lose too much offensively either. He would still be the 2nd best C on Detroit. I’m just spit balling though, not a wild proposal I don’t think.

Yeah but the problem isn't with Detroit's forwards the left side of the defense Detroit's youngest LHD last season was 29. Fabbri is actually pretty solid defensively and Yzerman just gave him a 3 year extension. Fabbri tore his ACL and might not be ready at the start of the season and since Montreal gave up a 1st and a 2nd for Dvorak. That's why I don't see either team making this deal.

After thinking about it some more I'd likely take the deal but I do think Montreal is getting the worse of the deal.
