4 million $ in real (given trade is after bonuses) for 3rd pick is a bit too much.

As a Coyotes fan I like the idea of 5th OA + something for Chychrun. Hopefully we can get Nemec, but I'd be happy with Jiricek or Gauthier too.

Really? Why do you say that?

This team is certainly better than our team last year. I don't think there are too much overpayments here. Carlson is a legit #1 with huge offensive upside, and Mantha was a little banged up last year but I think the kid has more there and can be a great middle 6 winger. Signing JG would help with the loss of TK, and playing him on a line with Cam could boost Cam's goal numbers as well. 23 on a horrible team isn't bad at all, seems like he still has the touch.

Also injecting youth with Wade, Owen, Frost, Tanner, and York, keeps the team with some youth, built around players in there prime, and a few vets scattered in there. It's a good mix for sure.

Honestly, i would have probably tried something else if we were top 4, if we could get one of Wright, Cooley, Nemec, or Slaf, I would keep this. The uncertainty of Jiricek and the rest, makes me want to trade it now.

I get that. The top 4 you mentioned is a tier of their own. I don't like Jiricek personally either. His skating is not good. If we take Cooley I like the thought of also getting Gauthier, but only him as a selection I don't think I'd be too thrilled about either. I do like a line of Gauthier - Cooley - Guenther.

It’s mainly age.. It’s a good deal skill wise and the team looks better overall, but not sure we should be getting older… plus it probably puts us in a tighter position to extend Sanhiem

How do you figure? The oldest player on the team is 32, the average age is 26, what the hell are you talking about?

getting older? the average age is 26, oldest guy is 32, we'd be one of the younger teams in the league.

This is an interesting trade idea, but I'm not sure Washington would go for this. The main stickler here (at least for me) is that Provorov would be on the wrong side, and Washington would have to try and move either Orlov or Fehervary to the right side to make it work. A defensive core of:

Provorov-Orlov
Fehervary-Jensen
Alexeyev-Van Riemsdyk

Could work, but I'm not sure if the Caps would be confident enough in it. It would be a little disappointing to trade Mantha, but I wouldn't mind Konecny as a substitute. Other problem is that of Oskar Lindblom, who Washington may not have cap space for, but that could be ironed out and I have no doubt that a different trade could be found for Lindblom.

You’re moving two twenty-five year old players for a 26 and 32 year old…

Mantha is just a more injury prone TK who brings less overall to the table as well. So while he is only a year older, guy probably feels like he is closer to 33 than 26 due to injuries

JC is good, but we get 7 years older making our window that much smaller… people are tossing Provorov under the bus while praising a guy like Chychurn who literally has scary identical stats, but because he is 2M less people think he is worth a ton and Provorov should be moved.

Honestly, give these players a year under a coach who isn’t awful like AV and their values will skyrocket again

Money wrapped up in gaudreu, hayes, mantha, atkinson who are all getting slower. Couturier just missed an entire season so no guarantees he can play at same pace. the right side of the dcore all past primes except risto who never had a prime.

I could say the same thing just the opposite, coots could return to his stellar defensive play and point per game pace. None of the players you just mentioned are showing signs of getting slower, either, where do you get that? Hayes was nearly a point per game player when he returned and JG just put up 120+ points. Cam scored 23 goals on a doomed team. I don't know what you're watching but it's like you're saying all these players are definitely doomed or on some downturn when the evidence points to the contrary.

Not in love with the idea of moving out 5th overall for Chychrun when we have Provorov. Move out all those pieces and still only have one player who is a gamebreaker - Gaudreau

IDK call it a gut feeling then but I think the flyers are in one of the worst spots to be in the nhl and trading a top 5 pick and signing the most expensive ufa is in the wrong direction for the club... Not to mention they really dont have a deep prospect pool and you have wade allison on the second line
