Back in January I thought Copp would be a good UFA target for Detroit because we need a 2C and he's from Michigan. But now I'd be shocked if he doesn't sign with the Rangers. He's really played well for them and fits perfectly.

5% of his base salary (not including signing bonuses). 5% increase from $832,500 is $874,125. I wouldn't be surprised if Vilardi accepted his QO and took that exact contract for one season, betting on himself to have a better showing next season.
