Again bro I can't take anything you say seriously when you talk about 3 Firsts as a pile of junk.
As discussed through out the post I can u derstand the value of a certain player being worth more to a team than anything that can get traded.
But seriously you can't sound more annoying by keep saying this is a pile of junk.
Please tell me how many defenseman have netted a trade of 2 Firsts. And then tell me how they compare to Pesce.
Alright, let’s look at the package a different way. Mittelstadt, who plays C, is a useless acquisition. Not only has he underperformed for his draft location, Canes have no need for C. They already have Aho, KK, Staal, and likely Drury as their C core for next year, before even mentioning how deep their c pipeline runs. 2 first round picks, at 16OA and 28OA, who at the very earliest, reach the NHL 2-3 years after they are drafted. That is 2-3 years of not really being able to compete for the cup.
Do you really think that a player who holds no value to the Canes and a mid and late firsts are really enough for effectively forcing the Canes to retool? If Pesce were to be traded, 1) he would very likely get more than Eichel got, based on a bidding war, lack of injuries, steal of a deal, and just not being a cancer, and 2) would signify a retool or even rebuild for the Canes. So from a Canes perspective, it is a pile of junk as none of it would help them contend now.
And as for dmen who have been traded for 2+ first round picks: Lindholm (2 2nd rounders and a prospect equal to about a first) is probably closest in terms of overall game. Then you have Seth Jones and EK65, and we can leave it at Chicago and San Jose probably screwed up. Lindholm also only got that with half retention, and he doesn’t play the money position of RD.
