I wouldnt do Byram for Miller 1 for 1. He's untouchable. Newhook is a maybe but if Miller leaves then that puts COL in a bad spot with Cs behind Mackinnon. I don't think Sakic would move either of them

First trade: if the Avs are moving on from EJ, they probably want to save on the cap. Pearson and Dickinson both have an extra year on their deals. Not sure it makes sense for Colorado. But whatever, I don’t care much about this.

Absolute no for the Miller trade. He’s a good player but it’s 1 year of a 2C for two 20 year old NHLers with first round pedigrees. Like @UpsideDownQue, I wouldn’t move Byram for Miller 1-1. Moving ELCs that are already contributing at an NHL level for a short term gain is a real easy way to put yourself in cap hell.

As much as I like Byram, he would be riskier due to his concussion issues. Newhook is untouchable if Kadri leaves. So that's probably off the table

Byram has a higher value than Newhook imo. Newhook isn’t ready to be a full time 2C yet. Byram is already a top 4 defenseman and nowhere near his ceiling.
