Isles aren’t sending a draft pick in the deal. Mayfield is probably worth more cause he’s a righty.

I think it's a bit much for Graves - if the Isles need retention I could argue it's 1-for-1 (Graves might be slightly better but Mayfield has the better hit), if Isles need retention add the 3rd (fair value for ~$1.5M in retention).

I will caution this - Mayfield turns 30 this year and would hitting UFA for the first time in his career. He's been severely underpaid the past few years so I could see him really pushing for a big deal - something in the $4M+ range maybe? Not sure if the Devils would want to do that kind of deal but I do think he could be a good partner for Luke Hughes if you want him at his price.

Actually think MN would do this. Foligno is a huge locker room guy and part of a very good GREEF line and we’re not looking to move him. This price is high and MN accepts I think. They also still trade Fiala, Foligno doesn’t make enough to offset a Fiala extension.

I have him budgeted for around 4 mil. He would be a great addition and at 4ish mil less than Hamilton, would work out perfectly. Also the trade is flexible. Wouldn’t even be opposed to possibly adding on graves to get mayfield. Point of the trade is the isles need a LHD and they are set at the top four for RHD with pulock and Dobson so mayfield will be priced out. Devils need a defensive right handed dman. I think this sort of swap would be perfect, especially because they both have expiring deals

With all due respect, Minnesota isn't looking to trade Marcus foligno. Andrea's Johnson is not good. Janne isn't something Minnesota needs. So it comes down to 2nd and bovquist for foligno
