Both teams decline, it’s stupid for both of them. The Pens because they’re the ones overpaying and Dallas because they finally have a solidified elite goalie, don’t see them giving him up.

Oettinger did play great! I think Dallas couldn’t think about trading him though. He was a great draft pick. As a Dallas fan, I’m excited to see him grow as a player.

Why? Dallas needs scoring, and Pittsburgh needs goaltending. It's unrealistic, but I was just having fun.

Why would Dallas remotely consider dealing their future stud goaltender for Jake Guentzel, Dallas passes and it's not even close.

Yeah well i'm pretty sure that Dallas needs goaltending as well not just Pittsburgh.

As a ranger fan I think Dallas accepts. Guentzel is really underrated

Not a bad trade if Dallas had a better reason to move a goalie (if they had another #1).

Why would the pens trade their 30+ goal scoring winger signed to an amazing contract and a 2024 first for a goalie at all?

First of all, Pittsburgh does NOT need goaltending. Jarry was an all star this year and has all the confidence of management. It’s unfortunate he was hurt but that is what it is. He could use a better backup but this is not how you address that.

Sure Dallas could use more goalscoring - any team could. But why would they give up their starting goalie and goalie of the future for it. Dallas already had a first line left winger too.

Trade just makes no sense

Agree, it makes no sense for either team. This much we agree on.

Dallas says no. Guentzel has just one more year to till UFA, the Dallas goalie I believe four years.

Pens are over paying both teams decline Pebs will be in a rebuild very shortly, a goalies not going to help them and Dallas can find a winger in UFA

This is even assuming the Stars let Oettinger get to UFA. If I'm Jim Nill, I lock him up for 3 years this offseason and then load him up with an 8-year deal after that (assuming he doesn't completely fall apart between now and then).
