NSH doesn't have a spot for Mrázek, and Robertson doesn't really fit with their physical, hard-hitting style. I'd take Holl, if TOR wanted Myers in return for him.

Possible. I dont think you can get Marchment, because your RFAs are all underpaid, (and most have arb rights. Kase/Engvall doesn;t get a raise?)

Getting old quick: giordano and subban added, simmonds, muzzin, clifford, everyone a year older, not a single rookie. Even with sandin and liljegren, thats the oldest defense in the league.

I'd still point out that Kalgren is a pretty unreliable/unknown as a backup on a contending team (26 yrs old, 14 nhl games, .888 save % and 3.14 GAA)

Kase doesn’t deserve 2 years with his injury troubles or a raise for that matter.

Kalgren did an adequate job considering the circumstance.

While both your points are true:

Kase is a RFA with arbitration rights, if he stays, he will get a raise (same with Engvall, but in Engvall's case, he'll probably get upwards of 2mil). I dont think TOR should bring back Kase period. He is an injury concern. (Its not huge differences, but when you have just 144k under the cap...)

Kalgren did alright in his first taste of NHL action, but his stats, given that I think the team won 8 of his 12 starts, are pretty poor, (again 3.14 GAA and .888 save % is just bad on a team that finished in the top 3 in the east), especially when the team deemed signing a big UFA backup for Campbell last yr/the amount of goalie injuries/the somewhat unknown factor of campbell being a number 1. I just think a true contender doesn;t go into the year with such an unknown/unreliable backup at the most important position.

So I think you stumbled on to the real problem. The Leafs can’t risk or afford to pay Campbell what he is going to earn in free agency when he is not a proven commodity. Of course their cap issues ooze all over the place, and they won’t or may never get fixed unless the league moves the cap up in the next couple of years. Think the resigning of Matthews.
