He was placed on waiver last year and no one claimed him. He needs to have another solid year before he gets term or money.

I would want more to eat Monahan's money. That's a lot of money for a guy who won't make our team.

Kylington showed every one of his flaws in the post season, he's carried by Tanev very clearly. Because he's been a pro for so long he only has two years left on RFA so he either bets on himself for a 1 year deal or asks for a long term lower cap hit deal. I don't see the Flames giving him the latter and they have LHD that can play with Tanev piling up in the AHL, could be a good sell high option really.

IMO Buffalo should accept the Monahan trade.
If he cannot play, Buffalo receives a second round pick and reaches the cap floor.
If he rebound (a la Tarasenko), it would be the steal of the year.
Make it this year's second round pick, giving Buffalo 6 picks among the top 74 picks.
