Far too match quantity and far too little quality to entice Winnipeg to trade an untouchable player.

Not a bad offer in my opinion. 8OA, young RHD with 2 years at 4.4M per, a few seconds, a decent prospect that will probably turn into a bottom 6 player, and a struggling young winger. They get tons of cap relief, and can draft a good player with that first round pick. Still should be a good team next season, and Perfetti can go into that 2c spot, with Schniefele back as the 1c. Could use a little bit of money for signings too! I actually like that trade for both teams honestly. I don’t see Dubois getting traded, but good job! This is a good offer.

Love Dubois. But that's too much for Detroit to give up. Just keep Dubois in Winnipeg.

Unless WPG is going full rebuild, then I'm not sure the deal makes sense for either team. Value isn't awful (#8OA, a 2nd pairing RHD, a middle 6 winger and C, plus 2 other earlier round picks for a 1-ish C, a 2nd pairing Dman, and a lower pick), but that means that WPG should be dealing everyone else too (Wheeler, Scheifele, and Dillion would be the targets before PLD). I'm not sure why WPG would deal one of the youngest players on their team first though, he should be leading the rebuild, not being the first one out. PLD's numbers would also be better if he was playing 1st line minutes, with 1st line players, he didn't always get that in WPG.

PLD would be the C piece that DET needs, and it is easier to find wingers than Cs, but that does suck some of the depth out of DET's system, plus affects the future growth. It also takes away some of their salary flexibility, they still need to pay PLD, Larkin, Bertuzzi and are significantly overpaying for Schmidt.

How? You are getting a good 2c that is a 60-70 point guy right now, and a defence man that can play with Seider. You are giving up 8OA, two seconds, a RHD, a meh prospect, and a struggling winger. That’s not a bad trade at all. If you want a good player, you have to be prepared to give a fair amount. No good players is cheap to get. Maybe you could take a second out, but not much. I think it’s pretty good for both sides.

This is an interesting look. I dont think Winnipeg takes it, but lets say they debate it... Schmidt needs to go because they need the cap space and have a pretty packed set of D back there. Swapping Hronek for Schmidt really doesnt help them since the difference is like $1M. Zadina is a throw away right now.. he is high risk / high reward (boom or bust) so his value is nothing because of how last year went. Veleno looks to be a great depth forward for the future but cant replace Dubois. Overall your really using 3 future top 50 picks (including and 8th OA) to obtain Dubois.

If I am Winnipeg I say no, the value isnt there... But if I am Detroit, I wouldnt do it because of the rebuild and picks are important. We arent in a position to give up high picks for players right now.
This trade doesnt work for either team in my opinion

The Jets needs are right shot top 6 forwards and right shot top 4 defensemen or players that have the potential to get there. None of those are being offered here, so team needs wise it does nothing for the Jets. Left shot anything has little value to Winnipeg.

More importantly though, the Jets have no reason to move Dubois, so a "fair" value offer won't do it. Unless it is a slam dunk, ridiculous overpay there is no reason for the Jets to look at it. Especially before the Scheifele situation is settled.

PLD is a nice C, and I'd love to have him, but that's WAY too much for him and just 2 years of Schmidt. This team is farther way then just a C to contend. Trade is a step in the wrong direction.

8OA will be a C, Hronek is a core piece, not a meh prospect and a winger who just needs a better C to play with.

I agree they are more than a center man away from contending, but give them a 2c, and a top 4 LHD, and this team is looking pretty decent. This team doesn’t need to rebuild for much longer in my opinion, especially if they can lock up Bertuzzi or get something nice for him. I think if this is the ask, Detroit should be all over it. 8OA is good and all, but Dubois is already good. Who knows if someone will be as good as Dubois that is supposed to go 8OA. If it was a top 5 pick, I would agree with you, but it’s not, so I think it’s a good offer.

That's incorrect. They are still not looking decent. You just took away their 3C, a winger and their #2 RHD haha hello?

This makes no sense.

Something like Zadina, Wallinder and the 1st for PLD would make way more sense.

Seeing PLD slot in behind Larkin at 2C makes me pee a little bit. Unfortunately we can't make this trade right now.

Jets shouldn't do anything of this nature right now. Hiring a new coach is 1st priority, and if they can, I sure hope they keep the top candidate (Trotz) out of Yzerman's hands!! lol
I think he's definitely what the Jets need right now. He will bring much needed defensive responsibility and accountability to the team. His presence will undoubtedly give Scheifele and Wheeler's "head a shake" (and anyone else who needs it), for their part in what has become a poor culture in WPG. And if those players' egos can't handle it and they want out, Chevy will be happy to accommodate them in a way and a time that works for the Jets. But trading Dubois anywhere is FAR down the priority list of what Jets should consider doing. . . . You know, unless Moritz is suddenly available!!! LMAO!!!
