I actually think these are realistic trades, although JBD automatically becoming a top 4 D is likely a problem. Probably need someone else who's proven on a 1-2 year deal.

Kind of rich coming from you - 1 playoff appearance in 7 years and brutal player / resource management by the FO during that stretch. Funny that comment irked you when it's a pretty reasonable thing to do. Why waste assets in a trade when there are similar options in the UFA market coming up? If that doesn't work out you can always circle back to the trade market.

Hey we at least make the playoffs. Can’t say the same for the Canucks.

its called costs and term, FA always overpaid and overtermed.

If a team makes the playoffs and doesn't win the cup and a team doesn't qualify for the playoffs - both teams won the same thing = NOTHING

Well I would take playoff experience any day of the week than missing every year. Carolina just needs to add a bit then they will be able to get passed that second round. If I’m Carolina, I rather not throw 8M at Miller. They have two guys locked up long term. Kotkaniemi, Svechnikov. Grabbing a big contract should be the last thing they should do.

I'd rather overpay by 1m per year or give an extra year than use 3 valuable assets on a guy. Would you rather have Miller at the cost of those assets or pay a little bit more to get a guy like Forsberg? From a perspective of a third party not the teams involved in this scenario..

And sure, disappointing season nonetheless - but give me playoff appearances and consistently improving teams over middling teams who miss the playoffs regularly.

I like the bones of this trade, but I see maybe a higher pick coming back and possibly Hogs going the other way.

Nice sentiment, however teams make trades all the time. JT Miller probably makes a big enough difference that they take a very long look at something like this. IMO Carolina is the best fit for Miller for a lot of reasons.
