No thanks. You keep Holl; Seattle will keep its 4th Rounder and just sign a d-man like (or better than) Holl for half the price this off-season. We've seen his many blunders and know what Toronto fans think of him.

You aren't getting a dman as good or better than Holl for $1M lol

Depends how good you REALLY think Holl is.
Some Toronto posters on here call him a 5/7 guy (and still want teams to give up assets to acquire him!). In that vein, Michael Stone made .750 this season; same for Brendan Smith, I believe. Just as 2 examples. I'm sure there's a veteran d-man or 2 out there looking to stay in the show who'd be happy to sign for around 1 million. Probably been around long enough to play with a lot fewer mistakes, also. And again, Seattle keeps its pick.

But hey, I hope Holl proves us all wrong. Toronto (fans) sure wanna run him out of town.

Hes a 5/6 guy but he can definitely handle more minutes than a guy like Michael Stone. Mistakes are just amplified in Toronto, any dman you sign for $1M will make as many or more mistakes than Holl

Holl is a bottom 4 defensemen who can play meaningful minutes on the PK, he is worth a mid round pick and would help any team. He had an xgf of 57% and, despite making some mistakes here and there, is a very solid defenseman at a very reasonable price. The reason everyone is shipping him out is because our right side is full with younger players in Lili and Sandin and a vet in TJ. Holl would end up being our 6th or 7th dman. But on a team like Seattle he would fit in as 5 or 6. Also Seattle has a lot of draft picks in the upcoming drafts and don't need to draft 13 players in next years draft after drafting 12 in the draft prior (including 5 in the top 64). Eventually you need to turn those draft picks into players and Holl is a perfect bridge type player before those draft picks come into fruition

I'd argue that the difference between Holl @ $2M and whatever UFA Seattle could sign for $1M is going to be of little importance to the Kraken next season - I think the 4th that OP has them sending to Toronto is more important than the handful of extra goals that Holl might prevent over an Andrej Suster or Michael Stone or whoever

Lots of Justin Holl level guys signed for sub $1 million right now. I’m sure there will be some similar signings this summer

Yeah but Seattle could just sign some journey man to play the same minutes and it would be $1 million less and wouldn’t cost a pick

I agree, everything amplified in TO, for sure. But you're kind of making my point for me. If I can get a comparable bottom pairing d-man (other posters have given additional examples) for 1 (or even 2) million on the open market, then why would I give Toronto a draft pick for theirs? My guess is the answer has something to do with "because Seattle has so many," and "Seattle needs roster help," etc. Reality is we have defenders like Holl, already, IMO (see Borgen; see a regressing H. Fleury; see his brother Cale) and we may even ship a quality d-man out, probably for more draft picks!!!! Not too often teams do each other favors! Toronto I think knows that more than anyone.
