Reach the cap floor while getting a player that could bounce back and get some picks in the process

Sabres aren't doing that Canes deal. Olofsson is better and Bear was a healthy scratch in the playoffs.

But taking gamble on 6 mil salary on a player after 2 hip surgeries, for 4 and 5 round pick from top tier team is bad assets management. And cap space is commodity in NHL

We need to spend that money to be able to play...I don't see where the gambling is. At worst, Monahan is a good fourth liner that is gone at the end of the year. It's as low risk as it can be...

Whats the worst case? Monahan is 4C? I'd like more than a 4th and 5th for 6 mill, but if thats all they'd actually offer... I think I'd take it. Gotta think a guy who had been a top center in the league has something to offer our young centers just by being on the ice with them

Good - Canes aren’t interested in the first place.

What they have seems to certainly be working for them so I'm not surprised to hear that.

Yeah, coin flip series where they didn’t play that well and Rangers played near their ceiling with Igor stealing a couple of games. I’d say what they’re doing is working but sure maybe they should blow it all up because they lost second round game 7 lol

Olofsson is the perfect RW for Aho and Svech. He can score from anywhere and has a lethal shot. Would be a insane line imo.

Are u sure you’re a Sabres fan?

Hard pass on that ‘Canes trade
And that’s not close to enough to take on Monahan

Hard to bounce back when you’re not in the lineup
And Monahan is shot anyways- too many injuries

Worst case - you have spend 6 milion dollars for nursing Monahan, and got two picks way over 100+.
Optimal case - Monahan came back in December, was decent enough so you have flipped him for more, better picks.
Best case - Monahan outplayed Mittelstadt for midline center and signed extension for lower cap hit.

You have helped Calgary keeping Johnny Gaudreau away from east conference. But here, Calgary should be the one thanking you.

True. But this ACGM didn't spend a lot of money anywhere so that's fine. Its very low risk was the point and they get something, even though Calgary realistically should have to give up significantly more to move that contract
