It's way too early in the process to be offer sheeting someone. The offer sheet should be the piste de resistance if used at all. Chiarot wasn't that good this year and at 31 he isn't going to sign for 2yrs It's going to probably take 5 to 7 to get him to even consider Detroit. Detroit should hold on to Suter while he is more of a 3C than a 2C but I'm not sure Monahan can oust him as Detroit's 2C. Yzerman has proved he is completely on another level when it comes to drafting so I'm not worried about it. But Lambert's draft value looks like a roller coaster and probably shouldn't go inside the top 10.

I sort of disagree about it being too early to throw out an offer sheet. I agree with not offer sheeting Strome, it sounds like Chicago doesn't have any interest in qualifying him so I'd imagine you could get him for less than a 2nd via trade. I would seriously consider giving an offer sheet to a guy like Timothy Liljegren. Cap squeezed team, only 23, coming off a really solid year, former 1st round pick, plus beyond Seider and Hronek there is very little RHD depth in the organization (unless you think Lindstrom is a long term piece - I don't). Every Toronto AGM has his signing for $1.5-2.5 million. Given the cap flexibility the Wings have I'd be really interested to see what the Leafs would do if Liljegren got 4 X $4 million offer sheet.

What about the Conference Finals? This team making it? They are still multiple painful rebuilding years away from the Conference Finals.

That would be an interesting move but Yzerman seems to be determined to build strictly through the draft. Only a 2nd rd pick though I don't know if he'd ado it.
