ATTACKING TEAMS IN CAP HELL

Created by: pavilla11
Team: 2022-23 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 2, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Canadians have a lot of bad contracts, maybe steal dvorak, a solid faceoff guy, would be great 3rd line center

fiala and #24OA for #2OA (Cooley) is fair considering minn cap situation

holtz smith and 2 first rounders minn#24 and njd2024 i believe is also fair for meier

could also move graves/severson for a 1st rounder? since i doubt both are resigned
maybe blackwood gets moved too if campbell daws is solid combo

I think it’s an overpayfor Meier, not sure about the Minnesota deal. I don’t think it’s terrible but Minny fans insist they can resign Fiala so your logic behind the move may be flawed. Idk I stink at creating these so I give props to anyone who takes the time to put together a half decent one

I think your deals are fine. I don't think you need Meier and you would be one of the teams in cap hell on like two years. Keep Smith and Holtz, both are going to be good players.

Not sure that Zacha fits a need for Buffalo since they already have Cozens, Krebs, Thompson and Mittelstadt as centers that produce similar or better numbers and are all younger. I'd imagine teams like Chicago or Boston might be a better fit to take a chance on a low cost risk like that. A change of scenery might do him some good.

Fiala was only good for 3 months. That’s a massive overpay.

To be fair, he's good for 2-3 months every year but he is invisible the rest of the year including this past post season!

If you are attacking teams in cap hell, where is the Toronto, Vegas, Tampa, Edmonton, Colorado, and St. Louis attacks? I mean, they have some high end pieces coming due and one attack by another team will screw them over.

Montreal should take this and run, they are essentially turning a late first and a second round pick into a late first, two early seconds and a 5th

Interesting trade with Dvorak. The Habs aren't capped out as Weber is LTIR and Byron/Price are likely as well. They have room this year and Hughes pretty much said they wont be be signing anyone relevant in free agency. But will need to make room for Wright-Suzuki-Evans-Poehling down the middle, eventually.

Yeah, my Oilers are screwed rn and need to lose one or two of Yamo, Pool Party, Kulak, Barrie. Kane. Some picks would be good as they can float their way to the post season and load up at the TDL

Minny’s GM seems to think that Fuala can’t be resigned though. He’s been quoted saying “Dumba is a good defenseman and people want to move him because Fiala had 3 good months”. If that doesn’t scream Fiala is gone I don’t know what does.

Teams are only in cap hell if they plan on competing in the present. Montreal does not. They're not going to move Dvorak unless they're recouping what they gave up for him and add a veteran C as a placeholder elsewhere.

None of these really target cap strapped teams besides Minnesota
