That’s fine, you don’t get him then 😁. 2nd from any team really.

I like it. Doubtful we sign another D and I do expect Addison to be an everyday 3rd pair guy with Goose and Merrill rotating out. My biggest fear is that Evason refuses to put Freddy on the 4th line, where he makes that line better and can fill in up the lineup. I’m almost certain Freddy will remain in a top 6 role and that is not good.

He’s worth a 2nd, just not the 39th pick. You guys have a very good 2nd.

I don’t think Addison has any chance to be our 3rd pair as long as Dumba and Spurgeon are here. Russo alluded to that in his latest Q&A. That’s too many small dmen. I can’t see them keeping him in the AHL again, so flipped him for a 2nd.

Maybe it’s for a 2023 2nd then. I thought NJD fans really liked Addison?

I also fear the Freddie love from Evason… ugh. Freddie as a 4th line C is damn good. Freddie as 2C is overmatched.

I hear this and kinda understand the logic but it would be extremely poor asset management. I don’t think Addison is a top 4 guy ATM but think he will be in a season or two, size be damned. It just leads you to make bad decisions, like playing Jordie Benn because he’s big.

He's pretty much another Walsh. Good puck moving guy that's succeeded in the AHL, but questionable whether he'll be a proper NHLer. Devils need more of big defensive player for their bottom pairing.

And that’s exactly what happened! Don’t get me wrong, I agree with you. I was just trying to read the tea leaves for what Billy G is thinking. Since I doubt he trades Dumba, trading Addison makes sense if he won’t play him on the 3rd pair. Personally, I would trade Dumba for whatever you can get. Slide Addison into that spot and sign a 3rd pair D to backfill.

Interesting, thanks for the info, on another post some NJD fans wanted Addison in a Fiala package. I think Addison could fetch a 2nd to a team that could use him, doesn’t sound like that’s NJD. So can insert another team instead of NJD here.

Addison would get caved in that role. I want him playing PP2 and 12-15 a night in an offensive role.

It was a guess on my part. What kind of bridge deal would he get do you think?

I’m sure he’d like less term but IDK what number he thinks he’s gonna get.

I think you could probably get him on the Batherson deal . Or if you want to bridge him maybe high 3s

I’m guessing somewhere around Garland or Batherson. 6 years at 4.9 per

I don’t think he gets 3 on a bridge. But I do agree on the Batherson deal, that’s 5x5 right?

That’s not a bridge deal. People in CAR are saying because he had a down year, he’s looking for a bridge deal to hit big on his next deal.

Yeah, I think bridge deal is where it’ll end up. In this situation.

I am sure he worth a 37th pick to a lot of teams. But since our 1st probably isn’t traded, our 2nd is probably our most likely trade chip for established player or goalie (probably in a package with our pieces). We seem to have a handful of young PMD that can play right side.

Ok maybe he gets the Robert Thomas deal. Was it 2 years x 2.8 per if I’m not mistaken?

Sounds right. One consideration is that Necas has played on the wing and not at C right?

Yeah, this makes sense. NJD isn’t a fit for this scenario.

Canes don't have the cap to make this work. Also, Fiala should not get the same deal as Svechnikov. Necas isn't a center, let alone a 1st line Center. If he was a 1C, he'd be worth MILES more than Fiala. If you want Suzuki, the pick needs to be dropped a few rounds. Hell, without Suzuki, I doubt the 1st is included. Necas had the worst year of his career, Fiala had the best. Both are likey to not repeat this kind of season. I really don't like this. Fiala's got too many question marks for Carolina. They'll likely take a run at Gaudreau or Forsberg instead. It's only 1-3 million more and is FAR cheaper in terms of assets.
