That's a tough one, would not mind the player, Fortunately we are pretty loaded on the Left side. And that contract hurts. Really like to get his toughness and intangibles but to me the Sabres decline.

I don't think there's any doubt he's a first pairing defenseman. He doesn't look good right now due to injury.

Chychrun is a way more complete player than Nurse, is 3 years younger with a really good contract. Nurse is getting paid more than 9 mil per year for 35 points, not really appeling for any team

Chychrun isn't good enough defensively to play against the league elites, Nurse is. And aside from one season where he was sporting an unsustainable shooting percentage, his offense isn't special either.

Have you watched the last 20 oilers game? Nurse is far from an elite defensive player

He is overpaid. But (a) it's idiotic to make a determination on the player based on the past 20 games and (b) he's still better than Chychrun.

I don't judge him only on a 20 games span, but those 20 games were even worse than usual. I take Chychrun before Nurse in my team any day of the week

Do you understand the difference between RFA and UFA contracts? Clearly not.

Yeah, does not work that way for star players signing long-term (See Mattews, Marner, Eichel, McDavid, etc). I also believe Nurse was an RFA when he singed that deal as well, I don't recall him ever reaching UFA status.

Nurse is a UFA this summer. The contract begins in July. All UFA years.
