Description
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5zw7nzAgAk watch this and tell me Edvinsson is not a 1st pairing D man/calder trophy candidate/conn smyth winner.... Ok maybe im getting ahead of myself, but I can hope right?! Plus Johansson on that side. And Petterson seems like a great partner for Hronek. with that, you gots 3 Swedes as LHD, 4 Swedes total, and all 6 Dmen are young Europeans. Neat!

And yeah Vegas will find a way to keep Roy but I would love to see Yzerman acquire him via trade or rfa. Also I'm curious what others think Roy will get from Vegas this year? over 3.5m? their cap situation is not excellent.

Id probably try to trade for Martinez or Dadonov and require Roy as part of the cost to move those contracts. I like the play there though

I don’t think he should be playing top pair right away. No Dman should .

I'm excited about Edvinsson too but we need to see where his game is at in training camp. He's 19 years old. Roy is exactly what we need but I don't think Vegas will give him up. I know they're in cap hell but they'll try to dump Martinez and Dadonov first. They can LTIR Martinez if his eye Injury persists.

I agree. He's never played on NHL sized ice in his career and needs to be started in GR to get used to the smaller ice and the higher pace, just like Seider was.

Broberg has taken a while to develop. Just a comparable but I think Edvinsson is much better

Edvinsson is comparable to Seider but plays a slightly different type of game.

Nobody was screaming for Seider to be thrown in at the deep end like they are for Edvinsson. IMHO it's unrealistic to expect him to make the team out of camp without any play in GR at all, besides Albert Johansson is currently better than Edvinsson and a lot more ready for prime time.

I can see Simon coming up for injury duty and getting a look here and there but being paired with Seider on top pair straight out of camp is simply ridiculous.

I would play him on the 2nd line with a guy like Dillon or Schmidt playing on the first pair and a guy like Zadorov , Maata on the 3rd pair

Oh yeah. Edvinsson is much better than Broberg. It's not even close in my opinion.

Not with Hronek as his partner. Hronek needs a partner tailored to fit him , someone that can compensate for his weaknesses, Edvinsson would be the worst player they could find for that job.

Any 19-year old? Fresh from Europe? Never having played on NHL sized ice?

Those filters shouldn’t matter as @csick said no dman should play top pair right away

Literally Seider. This year. On the same team.

Seider had one full year in the AHL with Grand Rapids and one full year in the SHL with Rögle after being signed with the Red Wings. He didn't go straight to the NHL and a top pairing after being signed. He was a whole full year older than Edvinsson will be this fall before he played his first NHL game.

I'll be surprised if Edvinsson isn't in the opening night lineup. Seider had an extra year of development due to playing in the SHL during the covid season, so I don't expect it to be as smooth a transition for Edvinsson, but everything coming out of the organization insinuates they expect him to make the club out of camp.

but that shouldn't matter according to what @csick listened. He said no defender should play top pairing right away.

And Seider did not play top pair right away, it took two years of preparation in AHL and SHL before he got that job.
