This Ones For The Hawks Fans

Created by: DevilsFanZack13
Team: 2022-23 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 5, 2022
Published: Jun. 5, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Friedman reported on 32 Thoughts yesterday that Chicago is taking calls on everyone except Toews, Kane and Jones. I’m just wondering if the Hawks would do this trade. As a Devils fan, I’d keep the lock and Slafkovsky. Let me know what you guys think.

As a Hawks fan. No. Not even Shane Wright is a guarantee. The Cat's had 3 seasons out of 5 where his goals per game results is north of 40 goals per season.

Was thinking about this the other day.

Trading a 40 goal scorer straight up for a draft pick isn’t really my cup of tea - we’d get our guy at 2, but who knows how he turns out. Looking over NJ’s treasure trove of young talent, there’s some interesting options to supplement that pick. Getting Nolan Foote would be the dream - Hawks are and have been a soft team for years now and adding a big guy like that, who is also talented enough to project into a middle 6 is something I’d find pretty appealing.

So I wouldn’t want us giving DeBrincat straight up for a single draft pick, no matter how high (truthfully, I don’t want him traded, period), but the right add-on would make me feel a little better about it

And I like Debrincat but I’d rather draft our guy at #2 and see what he becomes.

I’d do 2OA, Foote, and Zacha honestly

He mentioned Slafkovsky in the description. The Hawks would certainly pick Cooley in my mind.

Hawks decline and I don't think it's even that close. Assuming they take Slafkovski or even Cooley at 2, those are both pretty high risk forwards with a lot of offensive talent, but at the end of the day you're hoping they become what Debrincat already is. It's not worth taking the risk for the hawks when we don't need the cap space and Debrincat is plenty young enough to be here through a rebuild

I feel like Friedman purposely puts this garbage out there to spite CHI.

I just went back and read what he said and it's basically just saying Kyle Davidson is doing his job. He's willing to listen to teams about what they might be offering and even used Hagel as the example. If you come and knock their socks off...yeah he'll consider it.

Ok. So it's just listeners taking things out of context.

Not enough for DeBrincat, Devils are going to have to add a prospect and the like.

Umm no. Have your #2, we’ll keep our perennial 30-40 goal scorer
