Description

NYR get a much much better defenseman in Seabrook over Girardi. Grabner is likely going in the expansion draft. The Rangers take on a bad contract but also give up one. The retained salary makes the cap exchange nearly equal. (its attached to Grabner so its only for 1 year instead of 3 on Girardi)

What do Rangers fans think of this? They don't give up much for a good defenseman.

The Hawks get obviously weak on defense. Their offense is dangerous with 7 (nearly 8) 20-goal scorers. They also have Schmaltz who should be more developed and prolific junior goal scorer DeBrincat.
They could look to make a trade deadline acquisition defenseman if they saved cap space throughout the year by running a 22 man roster for a couple weeks. You know, like a good GM would do.

Thanks for coming up with a realistic Girardi trade idea, instead of those ideas where he gets moved for a 7th or something.

i don't think the rangers i would do this deal, just because the way seabrook has played (yes better than girardi but still that's not setting the bar high) and he has like 7 years left on his contract.. id rather keep girardi for 3 and see if a team will take him with retained

It's a very interesting idea. I personally don't think Seabrook is going anywhere. His Full NMC/NTC is probably why he bought a nicer house AND also bought the lot next door and doing renovations. I don't think he moves for anything. As for the trade idea. I think Stan would include a mid level prospect to NYR and the value is fair. The Hawks have an extra protection slot for a forward which I absolutely hope they fill otherwise it's wasted.

As a Ranger fan...i like that other people are trying to help us out by getting rid of Girardi. This however isn't the answer. I was laughing at Seabrook's contract the other day...that is NOT something we need.

I think every Hawks fan knows that Seabrook isn't going anywhere. Just fun to do and see what may make sense.

So you'll pass up on a 40+ point producing RHD with tons of clutch playoff performances and 3 rings, when the biggest thing your club needs is capable RHD? That's interesting.
It would be 3 years of a WAY better defenseman until Girardi contract is up and then a few more years of Girardi type play by Seabrook which then he could be traded. Not all that unrealistic for 3 years of great play instead of an anchor.
