The player I'd want from Pittsburgh is Marino. I think he'd be a very strong add to play with Chabot or Sanderson. Not a chance would I move the 7th overall pick for him, or for basically any defensive Dman. Think it's way too much of a concession on offensive upside

I would offer like Marino, Heinen/Kapanen, a 2nd and maybe a 3rd too?

Sens really don't need more 3rd line wing options. Not really big on either guy as long term piece, and Kapanen especially isn't that valuable an add if Pittsburgh is considering just non qualifying him. I'm pretty hardline that OTT needs to get undeniable impact value in a trade with that pick, otherwise no chance it makes sense.

How about 21st pick, Marino, and maybe Legare or Nylander for the 7th pick

Yeah, I don't think Pittsburgh has that piece, at least not for Ottawa. Won't speak for fans of other teams, but Pittsburgh's best non Crosby, Jarry, Guentzel assets are Pettersson and Marino and neither of them get there.

My bad I interpreted “and probably only him” as meaning nobody else would need to be added in a guentzel trade, and not guentzel is the only person that would interest the devs

I think it would have to be Marino, a couple seconds, and a couple prospects. Would only work if the sens management are extremely high on Marino.

Nobody available at 7 would make me trade Marino and the first. If it were 5 that changes since centre and RD are our biggest needs and 5 would guarantee us one of those (or Slaf).

Getting a 1st back definitely makes me feel better about it, but I think Ottawa ultimately has the pieces to make a fair offer for a player like Marino without moving that pick.

Improve a weak prospect pool while getting a player who will be able to contribute on an elc soon
