Trades
1.
OTT
  1. Joseph, Pierre-Olivier [RFA Rights]
  2. Pettersson, Marcus
Additional Details:
From what I've heard POJ is not liked in Pitsburgh by Francis and Ottawa has the rights to his brother in Matthew Joseph.

The value basically shakes down as Petterson who I've seen a ton of ACGM getting ride of him for almost nothing for Brown plus the extension. That helps Ottawa get a LD that is extremely durable and a LD prospect that would help in case of injury. That would also eliviate the need for Del Zotto and Ottawa could ship him off for whatever he warrents.

The other thing that this trade does is move Brannstrom onto the right side where he looked electric.
PIT
  1. Brown, Connor ($1,800,000 retained)
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
Brown with any extension to fit their cap structure

The Penguins get a relativlely young forward that is amazing defensively and would be a great supporting player to Malkin or Crosby and would help the forward dynamic greatly cause he could probably hit 50~ points in Pitsburgh. He would also help the lineup for the fact that he can also play anywhere with anyone. Then there is a second that should be middle of the pact in the 2024 draft. That is to help increase the value.
2.
OTT
  1. Donskoi, Joonas
Additional Details:
Now you may be wondering why this is fair.

I my opinion this is fair because Seattle gets a decent young forward that has a lot of potential and could help mentor Beniers exceptionally well.
SEA
  1. White, Colin ($750 retained)
Additional Details:
Ottawa gets a player on a similar contract that while does not have the term does not have the upside and does not hold all that much value. In an effort to restore that Ottawa will play him in the top six and see what they can get by the deadline.

He is retained by 750 000$

The only way I can see them trading for a LHD is if Brannstrom is able to move over to the right side.

Otherwise it's still an improvement.

In this mock you're also assuming that whether you draft Kasper, Lekkerimaki, or Kemell (all of whom are unlikely to come to the NHL in the 2022-23 season) take Donskoi's spot in the top six in the 203-34 season.

Brannstrom and Murray will be gone this summer, unless Murray career is over and ends up on LTIR, Sanderson is 2LD spot with Holden holding the 3rd Spot, no room for a 4m dollar LD they dont need, they dont need any D, they need a elite RW to play with Stu, Thompson is ready and if OTT brain dead coach can get out of his own way Thompson will be playing with Chabot all year with Zub playing with Sanderson

I jus don’t know if brown is enough of an improvement over one of the players we would be letting walk to make space for him. Might just make more sense to resign Danton Heinen or Evan Rodrigues instead of trading our top D prospect. The reason you see a lot of Pitt fans trading pettersson is to make room for Joseph

Fair enough, then you can take out POJ and the 2nd rounder coming back from Ottawa.

Though you would love Connor Brown and he be a better option that everyone but you're top players. It's guys like him that gets you Stanley Cups.
