Marchessault makes sense as a target, because he only makes 3.5 million per season in real cash, and is right handed. Giving up Formenton for him doesn't make much sense, since Formenton is on the cusp of being a regular top 6 forward, and he will cost even less for the next 4 years the Senators have him under control.
Vegas also aren't moving that Whitecloud contract. They signed it to get a cost controlled #4 D.
The Senators also aren't moving JBD or Thomson, not because of value, but because they have an organizational weakness at RD.
Tyler Toffoli went for a projected late 1st and a B Prospect. I'd expect Marchessault to be worth something similar. Maybe with a small premium because of how appealing his salary would be to Ottawa. A Senators equivalent might be the 39th overall pick, a future 2nd or 3rd, and one of their B prospects. Maybe send Brannstrom back to Vegas. He'd likely sign a cheap 2 year extension to bridge to his arbitration years.
