Trades
1.
DET
  1. Brossoit, Laurent
  2. Dadonov, Evgeni
  3. Martinez, Alec
  4. 2023 3rd round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
If Detroit is not on their lists of teams they can not be traded to.
2.
DET
  1. Hörnqvist, Patric
  2. Luostarinen, Eetu [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Horny accepts a buyout
FLA
3.
DET
  1. Lucic, Milan
  2. Monahan, Sean
  3. 2023 1st round pick (CGY)
  4. 2024 2nd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Lucic waives to be bought out. He then joins Calgary's front office.

If Monahan is cleared to play or is expected to be cleared to play next season he is traded. If he is not expected to play he can be removed from this trade along with a second and put on LTIR.

If Calgary makes this move they can then resign Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Mangiapane, Kylington and fill in the rest of the team with decent players. I would expect those first 3 eat up most of Calgary's 26M cap space they have.
CGY
Take out the 2nd if Monahan is LTIR for the year.
Lucic buyout costs 4.7M this year, the first is the cost of that.
Calgary gave up a 2nd + for Jarnkrok. This is basically a 1st and 2nd for Gaudreau.
    4.
    DET
    1. Mrázek, Petr
    2. 2023 1st round pick (TOR)
    Additional Details:
If they can't find any team not on his 10 team no trade list to take him. I would expect Detroit is likely on there but he accepts for the buyout.

This only happens if the Leafs feel they need the extra 1M in cap space that it would cost to buyout Mrazek.
    TOR
No interest in Mrazek from Detroit other than gaining assets to buy him out.
      5.
      DET
      1. Desnoyers, Elliot
      2. van Riemsdyk, James
      Additional Details:
Philly with only 5.1M in cap space. This allows them enough flexibility to possibly sign a free agent and get the rest of the team filled out.
      PHI
This trade is all dependent on whether or not Philly wants to try and push for the playoffs again and do a slight retool or if they are okay with running with a bunch of young guys and likely not finishing that well.

Aren't you only allowed 2 buyouts a season? You have 4.

It doesn't cost assets to move a healthy Monahan.

Why the hell would Lucic be bought out? If he is just going to call it quits then he will get his signing bonus then retire. It certainly will not cost a 1st to move his super cheap deal anyways

I get what you're doing, but there's zero chance the Leafs attach a first round to Mrazek to move him. Same with Calgary.

They should have done this 2 seasons ago but they obviously have no intention of spending to the cap unless they're playoff ready. Its too bad a couple more 1sts or 2nd the last 3 years could have made a lot of difference. I

This would be about $13,000,000 in dead money for the next 2 years when we'd have Larkin and Bertuzzi and others new contracts kicking in. This is poor asset management.2

9M comes off the books next season. 50+M in cap space next season.

Yeah I was thinking that too, or even last year. Could have done the Arizona thing and got some more assets. Don't need to keep them all but could use them to trade up in the draft.

It will be less than that if we sign Trocheck or Palat or add salary like Pettersson or Schmidt plus a backup goalie like Holtby.

Monahan hasn’t been healthy in how long?

Not sure how that's relevant, generally after a surgery you tend to fix the injury

Please tell me you are the irony here 😂
Also, that’s not how valuing injury prone players works

Do you understand how surgery works?

Also injury prone means you suffer from the same injury over and over. Like Crosby back in the early 2010's. Or Ondrej Kase and his concussions. Or Boeser and his back. Monahan does not have repeating injuries, he had 1 hip surgery and now the other. Though near eachother they are completely different parts of the body

Yes because players never drop off after having 2 major surgeries… this isn’t 2019 Monahan
