I just don’t see why the Jets would trade a 1C for a likely late 1st, middle 6 winger who requested a trade, a 2nd, and a meh prospect

I think that’s a very fair pricetag for him, but i do think that Boston should look elsewhere. They don’t tend to like guys that disregard defensive responsibility.

Winnipeg declines, they can get a far better offer than this for Mark Scheifele.

Well, few things here:
1. The trade request doesn’t matter in terms of value. Sweeney has made it clear that he’s not shipping him out if he doesn’t like the return, debrusk signed an extension and said he was okay staying there for the duration of it. It’s a non factor.
2. What more would they get? For the most part i agree with your assessment of hte package, though I would definitely call debrusk a top six winger rather than a middle six winger. Guys in their late 20s don’t get these transformative packages. First, second, top six 25 year old and a prospect is fine. You’re going to struggle to find instances of more being shipped out.
3. Is he really a number 1C? I guess it depends on the definition. He’s a good player, and ya, he puts up points, but holy hell is he a liability defensively.

It actually fits really well. All are expected to miss at least 25% of the season. Plenty of room.

"Far better" would be surprising given that he's close to 30 and a liability defensively.

The Jets aren't trading Scheifele for a pile of nothing. The only piece with any significant value is the late first and that isn't close to enough.

Waiving Brown and Ahcan and sending Mclaughlin down would require at most an additional $2M to clear.

Already acknowledged that Jets fans would say something like that in the description. I think Jets fans overestimate what the return would be.

He still gets a better offer than DeBrusk, Studnicka and a late 1st and 2nd round pick.

Find an instance of a similar player getting moved for more than that. Anyone will do.

I’m not a jets fan. Don’t see how that gets a 1C with term. Not close really.

It's more like Bruins fans overestimate what a player that has requested a trade and a bust will get them. All fans think they can get an impact player for their disappointing throw away scraps though, so you're not alone.

Really? Not at that current cap space you're not. $15,728,749- Charlie McAvoy $9,500,000+Brad Marchand $6,125,000 and Matt Grzelcyk $3,687,500 = 19,312,500

$15,728,749-19,312,500= -$3,583,751

You have a deficit of $3,583,751 when all are off LTIR That's hardly under the cap ny a country mile

They’re all expected to miss a quarter of the season+. Multiply that 19M number by .75 an try again.

Look at the Eichel trade. This proposal is very similar and Eichel had more value than Scheifele.

You're also not taking into consideration the cap hits of players that will be removed from the roster after those 3 players return.

On what planet? They're all 6 month recovery times. I don't know about you. but that comes to late November early December hardly 1/4 of the season.

And FYI that only eats real money not the cap hit which still remains the same.
