I was just curious, none of our opinions mean anything on here but realism is respected. That’s why I asked.

I think a lot of us on the internet have no idea what's gonna happen with Fiala. The range of outcomes is wide. How many teams is he willing to sign with, what teams will Guerin let his agent talk to, if Ottawa/LA choose to go the UFA route what does the market look like, how aggressive with Lou be, who can fit Fiala's contract demands

I can see him being cheap. I can see him being expensive. I don't want the Devils to give up a top 10 pick, Holtz, Hughes, Mercer or Sharangovich but I can see the latter being moved.

I’m guessing not the same thinking for forward prospects? I would think Holtz should be on the table if Fiala is going to sign long term

I could see a straight swap of Holtz for Fiala with an extension.

I hope you don’t really believe that Lisa Dillman is the one setting the bar for a trade

The article didn't even state Faber for Fiala was a potential trade. The direct quote is:

"So, is Fiala an option for the Kings? Well, they do have prospects. We like to play a trade-offer game here at The Athletic called “Who Says No?” If the Wild offered Fiala for Minnesota-born prospect Brock Faber, straight-up, who would turn that deal down?"

I don't see a way that the Wild offer Fiala for Faber. I think that is an easy no from Minnesota.

Yeah I know I read the article but the fact this guy thinks some random lady from LA named Lisa Dillman is setting the bar for a trade that involves a team she has absolutely nothing to do with is hilarious.

First off, I’m glad I got the reaction I was looking for when using that quote.
Secondly, she’s literally on the LA King’s beat for the Athletic…

I would hope NJ makes that move

'm not a Wild fan. I look at your prospects, look at the cap friendly page, and see 10 forwards under contract. So its shocking to me that there's "no need" for a player like Johnsson at 1.7M for you guys. But I'm not a fan of your team and you guys know it best. If you say there's no need for him, there's no need. I'm not arguing over that, you know the team better than I.

There's 10 forwards listed there under contract. Dewar is an RFA who will be re-signed. Rossi likely gets brought up, that brings us to 12. If we re-sign Bjugstad or another similar forward for a depth role, that's 13. The only non-4th line forward we'll be losing this offseason is Fiala, but we'll also be adding Rossi somewhere in that mix (possibly with Boldy and Gaudreau?). We really don't this offseason, we just need to clear some cap space, re-sign a couple guys (Dewar, Middleton, a 13th forward) and figure out what our goalie situation is until Wallstedt is ready in a couple years.
