          For McDavid?

          Buffalo says yes. Emphatically.

I'd still do it although I'd like a 2nd coming back in 2023 or 2025. Just 'cause I'd like to have a pick.

          Detroit says no

You take the 2 biggest pillars to our longterm success, 2 top pairing young dmen, in exchange for a guy proven to not be capable to win on his own.

We'd be stuck in the same situation.

          Idk about “emphatically”
Sure, it’s McDavid- but that’s a lot for him
I’d still do it, but that is a lot
Especially with the ‘25 1st added & considering taking Keith & Smith cap is worth another 1st as well

          So that would essentially be:
          Four 1sts
          Power
          Cozens
          UPL

Am of the opinion that McDavid is better than Crosby and closing in on Lemieux and Gretzky. Definitely on the Mount Rushmore of forwards over the last 40-50 years.

Why are the Stars giving up more than every team here?

          They decline.

Idc much about where he ranks all-time
Just if we’d be able to put a team around him that could win the Cup

After making this McDavid trade, my 1st move would be to trade for Chychrun to replace Power on defense
I know that would cost a lot as well, but maybe something like:
Pick 9, Portillo & Ryan Johnson
Idk if that would be enough, but it’s a good starting point at least
          I’d also look at going after Fiala/Talbot for Mittelstadt, pick 16 & a ‘23 2nd

          That would leave us with:
          Fiala-McDavid-Tuch
          Skinner-Tage-Olofsson
          Quinn-Krebs-Peterka
          Asplund-Girgs-Okposo

          Samuelsson-Dahlin
          Chychrun-Jokiharju
          Keith-Bryson/Fitz

          Talbot/Smith

Maybe that’s not quite a Cup team,
but if the goaltending gets hot i think we could go on a run

Just dreams anyways though bc EDM isn’t moving McDavid

Just if we’d be able to put a team around him that could win the Cup

After making this McDavid trade, my 1st move would be to trade for Chychrun to replace Power on defense
I know that would cost a lot as well, but maybe something like:
Pick 9, Portillo & Ryan Johnson
Idk if that would be enough, but it’s a good starting point at least
          I’d also look at going after Fiala/Talbot for Mittelstadt, pick 16 & a ‘23 2nd

          That would leave us with:
          Fiala-McDavid-Tuch
          Skinner-Tage-Olofsson
          Quinn-Krebs-Peterka
          Asplund-Girgs-Okposo

          Samuelsson-Dahlin
          Chychrun-Jokiharju
          Keith-Bryson/Fitz

          Talbot/Smith

Maybe that’s not quite a Cup team,
but if the goaltending gets hot i think we could go on a run

Just dreams anyways though bc EDM isn’t moving McDavid

That's a playoff team with three skilled players in the top-9 that are 21 yrs. old and younger. That Fiala trade is a good one for Buffalo and the Chicken-boy isn't a bad one either. However, personally I'd do neither trade, dump $5-6M on a three-year deal for Campbell, add a Niederriter or Copp plus go after Chariot and/or Cole.

That said, you're right...Ain't happening. Perhaps look towards throwing a $15M AAV at Matthews in 2025.

          That would be funny
          I hope ARZ does it!

No single player is worth that much. Detroit easily declines.

It would be hard for Detroit to say yes, but I feel like it would always haunt me that we didn't pick up McDavid when we could have. Our two best roster players, our two best prospects, and the 8th overall pick in this draft. I guess I might do it and hope that original 6 plus McDavid plus lots of cap room makes signing free agents easier. Take a few short-term cap dumps that can play and upgrade at the deadline to try to make a contender. It would probably be too hard to say yes, though.

Pretty sure Detroit is giving up more.

I'd say it's close to even, neither one is deceive enough to say it's worth more.

As a Sabres fan, I have to respectfully reject your offer.

I do think that McDavid is the best player to ever play hockey (Unpopular opinion: McDavid > Gretzky).

However, Cozens especially, as well as Power and Luukkonen, have all been positive influences in the locker room. All 3 are Elite players of our future. We have a dynamic elite group growing and amazing locker room chemistry.

I'd rather have a group of Elite talent rather than a Superstar player surrounded by decent talent.

If anything, I'd do #9 and #28 + Mittelstadt, Bryson, and Portillo for Draisaitl. Even then, that'd be an underpay from us.

          I like the creativity though!

Lots to give up for a guy that doesn’t defend
