Big deals with BOS always seem to end well in Leaf land.

Marchand at 3 mill might be the best thing Toronto could do tbh . I would def have them winning more than a round if this happened

I don't think this trade, either in value or in theory, is one the Leafs would be interested in.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be beneficial, assuming BOS would take this deal, it's just that any deal with BOS doesn't sit right with me.

Just picturing another scenario where TOR falls to the bottom of the standings and BOS gets a high draft pick.

Unless you pickup Wilson, any of the Tkachuks or Marchand , Toronto will never have enough grit to win a round. That’s just facts

I'm in the extreme minority but the Devils probably shouldn't trade the pick for a 26 year old, no matter how unreal he is.

The goal should be long-term dominance.

I very much disagree with that assessment. Adding a cheapshot artist doesn't make an entire team "grittier". The Leafs lost a coin flip this year with a historic team on an amazing run. Those things happen. Trading a young contributor, a top prospect and two first round picks for a player the fan base hates (and who is 34) would be a great way to make that problem worse.

How many rounds did Washington, Boston and Ottawa win this year with these amazing gritty difference makers?

the answer is always "more grit" no matter what the problem is. Wild.

The answer isn’t ALWAYS grit. It’s that Toronto has the skill but they’re missing the grit. You need a guy that’s going to overpower his way to the net and score those rebound goals . Even if they don’t get any of the options I listed, they still need a guy like Lehkonen or Nichushkin. Lehkonen has now scored 2 conference finals series clinching goals. You need a guy that will go to the net. That’s what wins in the playoffs

this "grit" narrative is seriously getting ridiculous, they didnt lose because lack of grit, brady tkachuk hasnt made a playoff and matt tkachuk has not been good in the playoffs, wilson same thing since the cup run, nylander has been a better playoff perfomer than all of them minus marchand but god forbid anyone brings that up.

Totally disagree. They have enough grit. They've like quadrupled down on adding grit in the last 4 years.

Ironically they should probably add more scoring! They've underscored their expected totals in every year in the playoffs iirc. When your identity is "offense offense offense", you gotta be the best offensive team in the playoffs and the Leafs aren't.

I really do think their grit is fine. They had Hyman, they have Bunting. Tavares and Matthews get to the net and battle just fine. They need to score more goals when it matters.

Baring major injury frenzy... Toronto is too talented to fall to the bottom in the up coming number of years!!!
