Description
L1 - not sure this is where Kemell would be right away - maybe he isn’t ready for the NHL right away and he stays in Finland, but with his shot ability I see him playing with Crosby sooner rather than later.

L2 - Malkin gets 2 wingers with very high compete levels to keep him effectives on those nights he doesn’t feel like playing.
L3-having trochek at 3C is clearly a luxury item but if management decides to put Malkin as a winger he easily slides up to 2C (especially if Kemell plays in Finland or AHL next year which is likely). Could be like:

Guentzel-Crosby-Malkin
Nich-Trochek-Rust

Crouse and nylander I think could complement each other really well. This third line would be a pain to play against and very skilled.

L4- Carter needs to be put to the 4th line or to the wing for his longevity - this does both. He could take the draws if need be. Blueger needs someone with carters offensive ability to see what we really have with him. O’Connor is the most likely one to go here but it could be any young guy who out plays him in camp such as Zohorna puustinen poulin etc

D1- banking on dumo coming back and bouncing back healthy after playing through injury most of last year.

D2- Manson is the Marino replacement for now and is a great compliment to matheson

D3- it is time for POJ to play - we need to see what he can do. Ruhwedel is a great steady eddy defender for him to be a bit more creative

Goalies: Jarry is obviously the guy but MAF comes home to win a cup then retire, paving the way for Lindberg to be the future backup

Who do you think would trade there pick in the top 5? NJD would but I think that’s a bit of a reach for nemec and they would take slafkovsky. Only other team would be Philly and idk if nemec will be there or not.

Personally I think the top 3 forwards go 1-3 (Wright, slaf, then Cooley). Then Kraken take nemec at 4. So by my thinking the only team that would be willing to trade would be New Jersey (as I don’t see Arizona or kraken willing to trade there pick)

Trade down from 4 to 6? If they like Kemell/Savoie + like Greig or something that seems reasonable as a base. Could throw in JBD or Brannstrom too? Ottawa could definitely get it done

I don't see OTT moving down in the draft for Marino, even though he would be an upgrade at the current Right shot D on the team, and at a good price.

They need a top 6 winger that can play with Stuzle more.

Yet, that won't happen cause that base would be taking to many important needs away from an Ottawa team and Greig is as close to untouchable as there is without being untouchable.

Yet, fairly confident means nothing if they don't get him and now have no replacement in Greig.

    @Hullsy09

Kemell is under contract in Liiga for 1 or 2 more seasons and Savoie would be subject to be sent back to the WHL under the transfer agreement if he doesn't make the team.

Kemell also plans to go back for next year.

Nothing stops you from trading who you draft at 7 after the draft

I think you are overvaluing your prospects a bit here Greig looks like he could be a solid middle 6 winger but he has barely played any professional hockey yet, reminds me of Adam Beckman.

Nemec on the other hand is going to be a Drysdale level (maybe better) top pair RD. That's well worth the tradeoff

Yeah I figured. As I said I think he stays in Finland I just put him there to emphasize that trade as it was the main takeaway from this ACGM. This is realistically what their lineup could look like in 2-3 years. I just wanted to show that Kemell would be awesome with Crosby eventually

Ottawa has 7th pick. I just don’t think Seattle would want to trade down to 7, even if it meant another decent prospect. Kraken are just starting out and they want to build some strong pillars before filling in the cracks, nemec is perfect for them

Me too, but if that does happen I really belive Giroux plays on the top line so the Sens top 6 can be

    Brady - Norris - Giroux
    xxxxx - Stuzle - Batherson

I'd kinda rather the Sens try to move some of their lower value pieces for Marino and just not take Pittsburgh's first back, and use 7OA on another player or just take the pick. Something like a 2nd and prospect like Jarventie, idk. That's just off the top of my head but you get the idea. That being said, it depends on who the Sens are targetting in the draft. Knowing the Sens, they probably really like some guy who's meant to be taken in the later 1st round anyways, so you might as well go and do it.

The whole point of this trade is to acquire the 7th pick, not to move Marino. Some decent prospects and mid round picks don’t make sense for Pitt because they won’t contribute soon enough to have an impact. If we were able to get Kemell for example he could be a contributing player within 2-3 years AND a major piece of our future

Not bad but the Ottawa trade is a stretch. Can’t see Ron going thru with that.

Nah not an overpay just highly unlikely from a GM standpoint to give up Marino and swap firsts to go grab a guy and stick him on the first line and hope it works. Nonetheless, I give u credit for this, this is definitely an interesting standpoint and approach to compete and also grab a very very good prospect for the future. Just think from a real standpoint, this is very unlikely.

True. He would go back to Finland next year if we drafted him, it’s just that’s where he would be eventually
