Not sure I can see Isles trading Varlamov and also retaining, since a quality backup would probably cost 2.5. Whole idea behind trading him is cap relief

Pass from Dallas. Stars just signed Gurianov to an extension and he's still got a decently high ceiling, depending on how this next coach uses him

One year of a perfectly good backup goalie, whom we'd have to replace, is worth more to us than one year of a bottom-pairing defenseman, whom we can probably replace internally. Among other things, we might want to re-sign Stolarz after this season, which would be realistically impossible if we trade him, while with the prospects we have coming up, it's unlikely that we'd want to re-sign Holl.

The Matt Roy trade would be laughable even if Los Angeles wanted Muzzin back, which the Kings don't.
