Take out Garland maybe add a mid round pick going to Philly. Given they traded the 14OA pick last year for Rasmus Ristolainen, Miller for 5OA Konecny and JVr isn’t even a stretch

Don't forget it wasn't just 14OA. It was 14OA and a 2023 2nd for Risto who had one year left on his contract and they didn't have an extension in place at the time.

If you factor in Canucks potentially retaining on Miller's salary I don't think 5OA + Konecny + JVR is a stretch at all.

Flyers' ship has sailed on being a contender. There was a little more nuance behind the Ristolianen trade - they had one year left of Giroux, they needed to change in the locker room, and they didn't have any RHD. There were elements to his game they thought would transition and some did and some didn't.

Flyers window for contending isn't now. Miller isn't a gambreaking talent and they can just buyout JVR and Lindblom to free up 6-7M. Keep 5ov and TK

I think you need to seperate what you want the Flyers to do as a fan from what they're going to do. I'm not saying they will make this trade but ownership and management have both made it pretty clear they want to be back in the playoffs next year. They are not going to rebuild. Ownership lost a lot of money due to the pandemic and they want that playoff income. Fletcher is going to get canned if they don't make playoffs next year.

I agree that they should take it slow but they have given no indication they plan to do that. I hope it works out for flyers fans sake but as a Canucks fan I've seen a lot of years recently of trying not to push for playoffs when a team isn't ready and it usually doesn't end well.

Miller won't be able to carry this shell of a team to the playoffs. He'll also probably want something in the 8.5x8 range and if they are going to have the cap space to commit that they can try to sway Gaudreau first.

Yes, Comcast wants to make the playoffs. But like any organization, they want sustainable success. Ed Snider had the team humming back in the 2000s and into 2011. If they want to just make the playoffs and have a 1st round exit then it is nothing different than what they did during the Hextall era. And if they want profits they can just keep raising their cable and ISP prices.

Teams don't move young players with term + top-5 pick for an upcoming UFA who isn't going to get them over the hump.
