Monahan Healthy 2022-23

Created by: Dr_Invictus
Team: 2022-23 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 7, 2022
Published: Jun. 7, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Monahan, hasn't been healthy for 2 years. If he isn't on LTIR, Calgary sends him home to Ottawa, where he has a chance to rebound. It helps Ottawa hit the cap floor and provides a veteran presence down their center. His contract is only one year. Florida was extremely deep down the middle but lacked two-way players. Mangiapane offsets the offensive loss of Reinhart, and Backlund provides a solid 2 way center with veteran presence. Lucic, I suspect would waive for Florida, who could use his toughness. Gudas comes back to Calgary for the same reason, albeit at a cheaper price. Ennis and Nichuskin are their for size on the wing.

Ottawa isn't struggling to hit the cap floor, also Ennis is 5'9 so I don't know about adding him for size. He's a good offensive presence in the bottom 6, would love for Ottawa to keep him around another year or two but won't be upset if we don't.

“It helps Ottawa hit the cap floor”

Really? Ottawa is $2.7MM from the floor and still need to sign 9 players. This is beyond ridiculous

I can't see Florida trading Reinhart. I get the Calgary connection. His dad Paul played for the Flames. Good player. It's too bad his last season as a Flame was the year before they won the Cup. 1988-89.

No team needs help hitting the cap floor by non value players...maybe Ottawa does the trade though they don't need cap floor hit.
You've given way too much cap to Florida who might like the deal, but are really cap strapped.

it's not 2019, the Sens don't need any help hitting the cap floor. that being said, with his contract only being one year, I wouldn't mind moving up a couple rounds to take a chance on him

This doesn't help Florida cap wise, Backlund and Lucic combined cost over $10,500,000 cap wise and Andrew Mangiapane will get $5,000,000 on his next deal. Florida can't afford this.

Both Florida and Calgary decline that pretty easily. Value wise Calgary looses that by a landslide, cap wise no way in hell Florida can afford it.

If Monahan is healthy he will not cost assets to move, if he isn't healthy he will be placed on LTIR
