If Reinhart cost FLA a first round pick alongside a late round pick who started blooming late (Levi), maybe Fiala can be acquired under the same precedent? I think Fiala would be a fantastic fit under St.Louis' offensive mindset.

Bill Guerin laugh He can get far better than the 28th overall pick and Roy for Kevin Fiala probably gets the Devils #2 pick or Ottawa's #7 pick for him.

I seriously doubt it. Doesn't follow the latest RFA deals at all.

Not bad Fiala deal, I must say, but, I'm not so keen on trading roy. Can we switch him from mysak + 3rd?
Weber already gets 2nd + 4th in return. So is timmins worth 2nd + smilanic? No. Take off the avs 2nd and it's fair.
I think Habs should just keep Drouin till the deadline, til, his value rises. Comtois + 3rd or Helleson + 2nd would be intriguing for drouin retained 50% though right now. Tahst the minimum I'd do now, as I can see drouin returning 1st + at the deadline
If Hoffman costs to dump, I mich Rather keep him. Maybe try to find a Gallagher trade, though.

Fiala gets more like 7,5m
Romy on 2 years gets more like 3,25m
Also, Barron should not play 2nd pair, give him 1st pair in the AHL, same for Harris. Ylonen shouldn't be scratched. Either plays bottom 6 here, or top 6 in AHL

What do you expect this team to be though? I don't understand the direction you're placing this team in

If the Kevin Fiala of last season is the norm and not a fluke. tons of teams would be throwing good 1st to gets his rights.

Ofc you're not keen on trading Roy because he's quality. Wild would be much more interested in him though than Mysak.

Fat chance Weber gets anything in return, he's worth nothing. ARI won't spend assets on him - at most the trade works like the Little trade, with ARI taking Weber as an add-on to a prospect for pick swap.

You're as usual banking on Habs players having way more value than I think so I won't even bother arguing about the Drouin deal.

I'm expecting this team to be finding it's form for MSL to work with, giving the youth a chance but also potentially being competitive.

To prove that Fiala would need one more year in Wild but alas Wild can't afford this. They're more or less forced to deal him, and the leverage they have over him is not that massive.

That’s not the 28th pick, it’s FLAs ‘23 1st
But yeah, Fiala will cost more

There will be tons of suitors after Kevin Fiala, So in that fact it helps Bill Guerin.

My point still stands, As Florida's 23 1st will probably be similar unless they win the cup and it's an even worse 32nd overall.

I agree. However, this post follows the trend what the RFAs of recent past have received in return. Will Fiala get more in return? Probably, but I don't think it's that much.

2nd or 7th overall for Fiala would work if Fiala was under contract, but he's not. I'm expecting for a pick in the region of 20-32 and a good prospect, or a 2023 1st rounder and a decent prospect.

Or they could lose the division to Tampa, flame out on the playoffs again & the pick could be in the early 20s

Might be a fair a signed Fiala trade....though Montreal could sign a UFA and keep their young assets.
No way Arizona gives up so much for Weber...if anything at all.
Anaheim says no but as suggested maybe Drouin in a TDL trade.

Well yes of course the 2nd and 7th overall assumes that he signs a long term deal with either New Jersey or Ottawa, Probably in the neighborhood of 8 years $64 million give or take.

As much as I would like to see Drouin moved, Arizona really like Groulx. So I don’t see this trade happening

Frankly ARI is only giving up a 4th for Weber here in a sense, and also the value gained in a swap of seconds. Smilanic probably has more value Timmins so it evens it out a bit too.

Depends on what Florida does to upgrade their team this summer, Knowing Bill Zito he will do everything in his power to make sure the Panthers are better next year than this year.

As long as he has learned to not trade first rounders for guys with WAR of 1% he probably has a chance.

Still won’t know how next season will ply out,
not unless u have a crystal ball

Sure, it’ll likely be a late 1st,
but all i said is that it’s not pick 28- which it’s not

Yeah he was desperate, And that was pretty brutal, There's other means than trading a 1st for than someone who has a brutal 1% WAR. That much we can agree upon.

We shall see, They're going to have to move out some decent pieces, just to afford to resign some players. Hornqvist, Gudas possibly Montour are but 3 pieces i could see dealt. Maybe Zito even moves out Reinhart but doubtful. He needs to resign Jonathan Huberdeau next season and he will get the Aleksander Barkov deal.

Show me the latest RFA that was traded AFTER a point per game season.

Not like Reinhart or Buchnevich were far off from point per game seasons really. In worse teams too. Granted 2021 was cut short but regardless, Fiala's performance wasn't hugely better than those two.
