If Reinhart cost FLA a first round pick alongside a late round pick who started blooming late (Levi), maybe Fiala can be acquired under the same precedent? I think Fiala would be a fantastic fit under St.Louis' offensive mindset.

Not like Reinhart or Buchnevich were far off from point per game seasons really. In worse teams too. Granted 2021 was cut short but regardless, Fiala's performance wasn't hugely better than those two.

I knew you couldn't do it. You realize you're a year behind on Fiala's value, right?

I do. I also realize it's a situation that hasn't really happened before. We can only go from what we've seen in the past, or we need to think of something new. I chose the former on this post.

But since you seem to be the brightest guy around town, do tell me what will Fiala get in return.

More than he would have a year ago, when the Reinhart and Buchnevich trades would have be relevant.

If I were a betting person, I'd say something around 7th overall.

We shall see, They're going to have to move out some decent pieces, just to afford to resign some players. Hornqvist, Gudas possibly Montour are but 3 pieces i could see dealt. Maybe Zito even moves out Reinhart but doubtful. He needs to resign Jonathan Huberdeau next season and he will get the Aleksander Barkov deal.

Ok, i never brought up anything about that
All i said is that it isn’t pick 28, which it’s not
And that the proposed trade wouldn’t be enough to get him

It wont be enough to get him, And that's a fact. because teams will throw better 1st round picks down likely 2022 and potentially better prospects as well.

Going to give fans a heart attack by simply mentioning Joshua Roy in a trade offer. I've never seen a prospect taken in the 5th round so beloved since Brendan Gallagher

No, that’s not a “fact”
That’s your “opinion”
Which i agree with, but it’s still not a “fact”

Correcting you is getting tiresome

If Yzerman were to offer Zadina and the #8 pick for Kevin Fiala, you honestly think this Montreal trade beats that. get real. When all is said and done Bill Guerin will get a decent haul for Fiala or he doesn't move him but other players like Dumba.

No, i don’t think that, and I NEVER SAID THAT

Neither of us KNOW what different teams will offer for Fiala

Also, as I’ve said MULTIPLE TIMES now,
I agree with you that the trade proposed in this ACGM will
NOT BE ENOUGH to get Fiala

Do u have a problem with reading?
I’ve been agreeing with you the WHOLE TIME ffs

I love beating a dead horse, but Wild decline. A late pick in 2023 is not exactly appealing, and neither is a late-blooming prospect that could very much be a flash in the pan. I understand the logic here, following the Reinhart-model, but Fiala has out-performed Reinhart (at the time of the trade) by a mile. Minnesota can get far better offers.

I can't see Anaheim having any interest at all in an expensive (even with the retention) rental who hasn't been that impressive over the past couple of seasons. You could switch the picks and I think Anaheim would still decline that offer, unless it was specifically Montreal's own 2022 second (i.e., the equivalent of a first).

People also seem to be forgetting Dorian has been personally scouting Fiala all year. 7OA and a prospect is likely what other teams need to beat. Sounds like 6 or so teams want Fiala but none of their fans want to give up anything for him lol. It will “hurt” to trade for Fiala. Billy might look at Reinhart and Buch deals and show the league they weren’t enough. I think if more teams could redo those situations, they’d go harder at both players. I don’t recall there being a big bidding war for either Buch or Reinhart, they were both considered kind of underachievers no? Billy has yet to be ripped off in a trade, I don’t expect that to happen now. McBain situation Should have been a loss, he had zero leverage there, and somehow got a 2nd round pick out of it.

I see absolutely no reason for the Ducks to give up a 2nd + for Drouin in any world

Cause stats in the Q are such a great indicator for future success laugh

Khovanov had a higher point per game in the Q recently and it will be a miracle if he plays in the NHL.

Different angle on a few deals. Interesting.

1. I think you're right about Fiala being productive at the top of the lineup under MSL. I think he could thrive. I just hesitate about Roy simply because I don't know how other teams view him. He's got decent size and a wicked shot. He can make high-difficulty plays because he has the skills. I don't know if it's gonna translate to the NHL simply because of his skating. Whenever I tune in or see a highlight, he's barely skating - mostly gliding - into areas which are way too open. Is he a top-6 or a 3rd liner? Dunno, but def interesting. Ps. I think this kid would be a top-15 pick this draft if he was born 3 weeks later.

2. I've always liked Timmins. I haven't heard much about him in some time and wondering if his development ahs stalled, but I'd def give him a shot in MTL. I'd also be interested in seeing how Smilanic develops. I never paid attention to him until the FLA trade. Hughes seems to target certain players and I wonder what he sees in him.

3. I'm fine with whatever return Drouin gets, but I'd wait until the TDL to give him as much time as possible to up his value if that's the way he's trending. Otherwise, just get whatever you can for him and file it as an L.

4. No thoughts on Hoffman, but, and take this with a grain of salt, an NHL Central Scouting Extern Consultant on my Twitter feed tweeted that VGK had inquired about Hoffman recently. No negos, just inquired.

Posters that say things without checking always amaze me especially as I made a simple, short comment that is put to task.

Have you heard of context? You know, team strength or you know, how old a player is, just maybe?

Joshua Roy is 18 years old. He barely missed being in the 2022 NHL draft, where'd he would go top10

Khovanov is 22 years old. He had those stats as a 20 year old.

You may as well be comparing the stats of a 1st year USHL'r in the NHL, and Jack Hughes of the Devils

Thinking there is any significant meaning of a player based on offense stats from the Q is truly wild.

Regardless, it doesn't make any sense for Montreal to trade for Fiala. Even worse is thinking that a late 1st and Roy is anywhere close to sufficient value is laughable.
