Rough Idea of Fiala Bids

Created by: Kado777

Initial Creation Date: Jun. 7, 2022

Description
With there being several potential suitors for Kevin Fiala, there is a good chance that there is some sort of bidding war for his RFA rights. This is just a compilation of some offers I have seen and what I think it may take to win the bidding war if that is what happens. Let me know if you think some trades are too much or too little or if you want trades added to the list.

No Isles fan has agreed to move Raty in a move for Fiala. It has to be either Holmstrom or Bellows.

I would be incredibly surprised if the Devils move 2, Holtz, or Mercer for Fiala.

As a Wild fan, I don’t think the Devils are gonna land him, despite being the reported “front runners”.

I could maybe see something like Gritsyuk + 2nd + 3rd, but I think that gets outbid. But I don’t think they’ll move any premium pieces.

The one thing the Devils can offer than I’m just genuinely unsure about with other teams is solid, pending UFAs with 50% retention to keep the wild window open without longterm cap implications. Johnsson, Graves, and Tatar could all be retained 50%. Im genuinely unsure if other suitors can provide that, I’d have to dig more.

While /fans/ may not want them, GMs may.

Yeah GMs can be suckers for that type of thing, but I just don’t see why the Wild would want that, even at 50% retained. We already have like 4 full lines under contract and 7 D.

Barring major upheaval, the roster is pretty much set for next year. Never know though, things can change.

I am not sure how the league views Raty.

Almost every other team passed (most twice) on him and idk if one year really swings his value.

The Canes package was Necas and a first, with Honka not being in the package. If the Wild need another prospect it could be Suzuki added, but I doubt Honka gets added in a package like that.

I agree, this is just what I think it may take for a winning bid for Fiala, not what I think they would be willing to give up. I think #7 and a mid prospect would best out Bellows and #13. would there be something added on top of Bellows and #13?

Perhaps not the fans but the NYIs Athletic beat writer has. His proposed deal was 13+ Raty for Fiala.

Fair enough. That trade was definitely one that I think could be made even without Honka if there isn’t a major bidding war. What would it take to also get Honka?

I don’t really know. I mean, me personally I am higher on Honka than some, but the future RD for the Canes is projecting to be Morrow, Heimosalmi, Honka. That’s assuming the Canes eventually trade Pesce that is. I don’t know much about the Wild’s prospects, but I don’t think Honka is available right now.

I think if it comes to closing the deal, Los Angeles could be persuaded to add Helge Grans or Sean Walker.

Who would be available in terms of prospects? The Wild would likely want a RHD, RH forward, RW, or Goalie. Obviously they would still consider good prospects that don’t fit that mold. It seems like the Canes have a fairly deep prospect pool that isn’t necessarily stacked at the top but has a lot of guys with decent NHL potential down the list that could be expendable but also could bolster some of those spots that the Wild don’t have a ton of guys in the prospect pool.
