Just messing around

Description
Recently saw an article from the athletic by Jonas Siegal and Scott Powers of the Athletic talking about how a trade involving Mrazek to the Blackhawks could make sense for both sides, as the Hawks currently don't have a goalie signed for next year. Just making it a big trade because its more fun that way.

Would Kane waive his NMC to play with Matthews? I mean anything is possible right? Strome also looks like he may not be qualified by Chicago so maybe the Leafs can put him at 2C and move Tavares to the wing.

Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Kane, Patrick ($4,750,000 retained)
  2. Strome, Dylan [RFA Rights]
CHI
2.
TOR
  1. Ullmark, Linus
Additional Details:
Would have to waive his NMC for it to work but he would probably get more playing time in Toronto so its possible.
BOS
  1. Kase, Ondrej [RFA Rights]
  2. Kerfoot, Alexander
  3. Scott, Ian [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Kerfoot is in here for cap in cap out reasons, but Boston can easily flip him or move him at the deadline for a 2nd round pick or something in that value range.

Kase gives them a cheap option on the wing while Marchand is out and Scott is just another young goalie they can implement into their system. Probably the backup to Swayman eventually.

I don't see the Blackhawks wanting/needing Nylander since he's got 2 years left and plan is to tank for rebuild.

Mrazek, Abruzzese, 2nd for a 3rd?

Okay but like why? You already have a starting goalie. If you are indeed going into a rebuild wouldn't it make sense to shed that money and get a younger goalie?

My idea was the Blackhawks could trade Nylander at the trade deadline or next offseason and get a couple more first round picks and/or prospects.

I've thought about doing the same thing. Kane is an upgrade for TOR and Nylander gives CHI another asset to flip. I think we could both tank and take on Nylander. He would be a downgrade from Kane in some ways, but a more lucrative trade chip because of his age and AAV.
