I think this team could compete with the best of the East assuming Gibson returns to form. It's pretty unrealistic though.

It's impossible for him to sign an 8 year deal with any team but Calgary so you will have to pay him more than that and on 7 years

Put on helmet, ducks fans are going to come after you hard. They basically think Gibson is the second coming of Roy.

No interest in Tatar

Mild at best interest in Thompson,
Not giving up a 2nd for him
Maybe a 4th- maybe

Yeah, but they're wrong. He's been individually bad, and this is already too much hoping for a bounceback, which I think could happen with a new team.

The last three trades are not good at all for the other teams, don’t see why they would be close.

Gibson is an overpay and the other two are just good young asset dumps that don't fit on the roster anymore with these moves, barely worth commenting on.

Those young assets aren’t worth 2nd round picks, not close. Kuokkanen has little value, Smith and the 2nd are decent. Blackwood is massively overhyped and the numbers show that.

Yeah, like I said, it’s irrelevant. The idea is dumping them because they no longer have spots on the roster. The pick doesn’t matter. I’m not hung up on it.

He’s so bad every post includes a Gibson trade…

Everyone that does one of these trades thinks he is going to bounce back and they won’t have to pay any price for it. GMs in this league do not think this way. These are fantasy trades pure and simple. Real trades have money, assets, and fit to worry about. Anyone acquiring Gibson will have to pay a price. He is not a cap dump and as Anaheim gets better on defense he may in turn get better. I don’t see Anaheim moving him.

Yeah, but you're neglecting the fact that:
-Blackwood has been worse.
-Kukkanen is a bottom 6 forward, which is absolutely not a need for the Ducks.
-Smith is an offence only dman who has been absolutely man-handled so far. Good upside, but not exactly a need.
-The 2nd is in 2024.

I don't get why people make trades for a guy then try to justify the underpay by trashing him?

This.

Only way the Ducks move Gibby is a) If he asks to be moved (He hasn't), or b) if someone overpays for him. There's quite literally zero reason why they would move him just for the sake of moving him.

Devils shouldn't trade Severson for Boeser, let alone adding to the trade.
I don't mind trading for Walker but LA have no space for another winger, gonna figure some other return out for him.

I don't get this thinking.
Ducks would never take this return for Gibby.
I'm also in agreement that he's been bad for a few years but I don't see how he's gonna become his old self all of a sudden, nevermind that anchor of a contract he has.
Let some other team lose a trade for Gibson, Devils should steer far clear of him.
Over the next three years, I'd bet Blackwood will at least put up similar level goaltending as Gibby.

Why not just trade Smith to Washington for Vanecek, who you know, has actually been playing well for the past two seasons?
Could even put him in a tandem with Blackwood, think Devils'd be much better off that way than relying on Gibson and Bernier.

How about Buffalo's 4th in 2023 instead of the 2nd and you keep Tatar

I think we’re better off signing Campbell than giving all of that up for Gibson, that’s a high risk trade.

This is a comment us Ducks guys appreciate and understand as well. Yes, to get Gibson it would cost a lot because we don’t have a reason to deal him right now. It does make more sense for a team to possibly just sign someone like Husso or Campbell

Los Angeles has absolutely no interest in adding Andreas Johnsson to its overabundance of left-handed forwards, all of whom are younger and more productive.

No matter what you think of his ability, Anaheim wouldn't trade John Gibson without getting a first-round pick back in the package for him.
