Assuming its Wright and Price is injured

Description
People who think this roster will get overhauled in one summer are dreaming. Truth is, most of these fellas had bad seasons and have no value at all. Our best chance is to play these guys and hope there’s interest that develops.

I can picture a scenario where we move Drouin, Byron, & Allen near next season’s trade deadline. Signing Fleury in order to move him at the deadline could be another move.

I think the only move Hughes might be willing to “lose” a little is the eventual Petry deal. If he can move out Petry, I could picture a scenario where he’d pay good coin to have Letang in the picture to mentor all those good young d-men coming into the picture.

Letang doesn't want to be a mentor, he wants the bag and another shot at Stanley

With Wideman signed for another 2 seasons, Petry is gone on TD Day. Weber is going to Zona and the way that Armia played in the worlds, there will be interest in him no doubt. Drouin may or may not go as well.
The questions that remain are; can Price play, do you keep Byron or buy him out, can you offload Hoffman?

Hard no to the likes of Fleury, Letang, Perron, Brassard and Subban!!!

If nobody gives him the right deal, he could change his mind about playing in MTL. On a one year deal, he knows he’ll see the net, and he knows that he’ll get moved at the deadline and can control his own destiny. Plus, he can get a good deal in Montreal, and knows that the Habs will retain 50% at the deadline, making him available as an insurance plan to every team in the league.

Scenario…
Signs 5M$ deal, with 4M$ being bonus money at signing. By trade deadline day, there will be less than 50k$ in actual salary to pay, and he’ll only add a little less than 400k$ in cap hit to a team.

With those kinds of numbers, every playoff bound team would love to have him.
