Seider will be extended long before he turns RFA and Detroit have no problems matching any offer.

well if we're gonna pretend that the Leafs players for sure make it to RFA then why cant we do the same for Seider?

because if the wings did something as silly as to poach the leafs players after robbing the leafs (in a trade they would never do) then the leafs would do likewise to Seider.

I don't see an EXTRA 2mil laying around without losing on some trades. Sandin has done nothing to prove he's a $4mil+ player TODAY.

Seider is playing in the top 4, he's happy in Detroit while Sandin is a healthy scratch on the Leafs

man, the goal posts are all over the globe for you eh?
So if Sandin is a healthy scratch on the leafs, why is he worth over 4 million?

It's the same reason why the Canes gave Kotkaniemi $6M, so the Habs doesn't match. The Wings know the Leafs can't match with their cap space, so they have an opportunity to steal Sandin and have his rights in discussing a new contract that is fair for both sides

Because TOR doesn't have the cap to sign them before they have sold off a bunch of dead weight.

The Tavares contract will really prevent them from keeping their developed prospects, Red Wings will thank the Leafs for the development

Also, everyone knows Sandin is talented, the Leafs aren't using him properly. He's easily a top 4 defensemen

toronto has more than enough cap to sign them and plenty of time to move the dead weight before the deadline. For most people here, this is just wishful thinking because the idea of sticking it to the Leafs is just too irresistible. to the OP it's just a way for them to get angry and feel alive or something. There's like a 99% chance that both players are locked up or traded for other upgrades well before they are eligible for offer sheets

Seider has not shown any signs of being unhappy in Detroit, everyone knows he loves it. Also, Friedman mentioned that Sandin could be unhappy and that someone told him to keep an eye out on the story. One player is happy with their team, the other is not

So? you dont lose a 22 year old D that has top pairing potential for a 2nd round pick. Period.

If they absolutely had to get rid of him, they would match and then sell him for more than that...

They will move money out to sign and keep him.

I think people forget that he was only scratched at the end of the year because he was coming off of an injury
