Trades
1.
NYI
  1. Graves, Ryan
Additional Details:
Isles add a big bodied LD. Graves isn't exactly a puck mover though, so I think there is still a chance another move is made here.
NJD
  1. Varlamov, Semyon
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Varly is probably one of the better goalies that will be available this summer via trade or UFA. Devils want to improve the position and provide legit competition to Blackwood
2.
NYI
  1. Gostisbehere, Shayne
  2. Räty, Aku [Reserve List]
Additional Details:
Here is the true LD puck mover the Isles need and Aatu Raty's older brother. He may never pan out, but it's a plus if they get them both to Bridgeport and develop together.
ARI
  1. Bailey, Josh
  2. Pánik, Richard
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
AZ gets yet another pick and a guy who will play in their top 6. Bailey is owed less real dollars than his AAV. Prototypical guy the Coyotes trade for. Panik is another body for them.
3.
NYI
  1. Fiala, Kevin [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Isles add a winger for Barzal
MIN
  1. Holmström, Simon
  2. Wilde, Bode
  3. 2022 1st round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
13th overall pick

Not sure how aggressive NJ (#2 pick, Holtz, etc) or OTT (#7 pick) will be in their pursuit of Fiala, but this feels like a competitive offer to get the conversation going. Holmstrom is borderline NHL ready and on an ELC. Wilde is a lotto ticket. He is plenty talented as a former 2nd round pick, coaches loved him in BPT but he wasn't vaccinated so Lou assigned him overseas.

MN declines. Ask would probably be Raty and 13OA. We don’t need more wingers. RHD is a prospect weakness but not urgent with Addison set to take over for Dumba after next season and Spurgeon signed long term. We need C’s badly.

It’s definitely a competitive offer and puts you right in the middle of the conversation. As you noted, really just depends how involved and interested other teams are.

I could easily see this being a winning offer or just as well get outbid. Hard to say with the top 6 winger market so in flux.

I would really prefer to hold onto Raty. I don't think he's untouchable just yet but I would give him up if the player we got was even a tier higher than Fiala. Who from NJ or OTT would be that C? I'm not totally up to speed with what the ACGM offers have been from those teams

The Wild passed on Raty twice last year and could have jumped the Islanders to get him if they really wanted him.

If they think Raty is a major piece to trade for Fiala you need to fire every scout in the org for essentially passing on him 3 times. 1 year shouldn't affect how teams see him and he probably doesn't hold the value CF folks think he does.

I think that’s why it makes the offer competitive. BG dangled Dumba for 2 years on the market looking for a top 6 C prospect or a high pick to get him one. No takers so he held firm. I don’t think a W will be the centerpiece for a Fiala trade. We need Cs badly. For OTT I’d say 7OA (possible C there) and Ridly or Pinto depending on how many teams get involved. NJ has Mercer as an option if they really want him. Yegor another possible option. The Isles Athletic beat writer mentioned 13OA and Raty for Fiala was a fair deal that made sense. As a Wild fan, I’d be interested in that.

Don’t think that’s exactly how it works. They really liked Jesper W and Lambos in R1. And liked Jack Peart at 54. Raty went 52. I don’t know if Billy G likes to wheel and deal picks, I guess we’ll find out.

I think when it comes to New Jersey it would be more about getting an ELC that lasts for the next three years (Holtz). If the Wild could package Fiala+#24 for #2 then I could see them taking Logan Cooley.

If Ottawa's #7 pick is involved, I could see them selecting any number of players from Savoie/Geekie/Kasper/Lambert.

One of our reporters just said 2022 1st and Bellows has a chance to get Fiala, which I don’t know if that’s accurate. This is a championship level defense tho and the offense should be about league average

I believe Nichols did, but he’s been wrong about a few things so I can’t trust him 100%

I believe he might have a few sources, but I don’t think he’s got any credible one with enough quality information

Nichols? Oof. Kurz has been a nice breath of fresh air taking over from Arthur but outside of that nobody in/around the beat is all that good
