Directional Shift as Sweeney Said

Description
Sweeney said the Bruins will go into a "directional shift" if Bergeron retires.
I don't think that he will retire but here we are, just some thoughts.
That being said they won't necessarily go into a rebuild, moreso a makeover/change of some sort.
Therefore, I think that the Bruins will try to remain competitive with some trades and signings

Reilly to Islanders, what more needs to be said...

I think that the Oilers trade is fair despite the odds of them actually trading Draisaitl. They give up Kassian's bad contract, take on Debrusk who I think would succeed very well in his hometown, as well as them adding a young center who needs a change of scenery. Bruins get their top center, Oilers shed a crappy contract, as well as taking in some assets in order to keep them competitive also. it would be nice for the Oilers if Pastrnak had an extension but we can just pretend he's got one.

Devils trade won't be a fan favorite with Miles Wood being a huge part of them. Coming off a major hip surgery and only playing a little bit last year, sending a veteran to a young team, as well as a solid bottom six forward and some picks is a fair deal.

If the Bruins can utililize the LTIR for McAvoy and Marchand, these trades can all be pulled off without cap worries. When they do come back, Ahcan and McLaughlin can be sent down due to their two way contracts, which opens up a couple hundred thousand in total cap space for the Bruins.

I don't think there's a chance Oilers entertain that.
You could add Swayman and Marchand going to the Oilers and I'm still not convinced they'd take it.

Easy Oiler no. Draisaitl is a top 3 player in the world and unless its some insane offer that oilers couldn't turn down, he doesn't go anywhere. Not to mention Draisaitls steal of a contract

See, I don't think the Drai trade is bad. But, the Oil aren't going to take less just because they dump Kassian in the process. You'd need to maybe drop Studnicka and include Swayman

Centers with years of control are worth much more than rental wingers even if they were on the same level.
