there's rumors Gauthier could sneak into the top 5, and Nemec probably goes there too. Don't think either of them are available by 12
Wouldn't mind the first 2 trades, not really interested in the Kings trade

Yeah, I was putting nemec and Gauthier at 6 and hutson/Kasper at 12. If Gauthier goes top 5 then nemec is more likely to fall to us over cooley/jiricek.

Ant reason you don't like the kings trade? IMO Bean doesn't fit our future especially if we acquire another RHD, and Faber is easily worth moving from 12 to 20 imo

How is Liam Foundy? Dosen't look like a bad trade, but hard to say cause I'm not familiar with him.

Meh. He will be a good bottom 6 player with potential to hit 45-50 points if he can grow more offensively. At the very least though he's very fast, competes hard, and very good defensively

you have the 6th pick in the trade that's why. I didn't realize you were metaphorically using both as an explanation purpose

lol i'd hope that's his potential by this point, christ. As of now it seems he'll be a middle 6 guy that'll kill penalties, likely not past the 40 point mark unless he's Bunting'd

Meh, I don’t mind the pens trade or the kings trade, but I wouldn’t be making any sort of trade for Puljujarvi. He kinda sucks and can’t even produce with McDavid, what makes you think he produces in Columbus.

Some of his most productive seasons were with Laine. I wonder if Puljujarvi reunited with Laine on PP could catch fire. I really think he is a bit misused. His big body would really be a help on the PP.

Not sure he would be on the PP, Columbus’s first PP was actually pretty good last season when everyone was healthy. When we had Laine, Werenski, Voracek, Bjorkstrand and Jenner as a PP it was clicking pretty well, it was PP2 that majorly struggled with no really set up guy, and Johnson should fix that. Boqvist, Johnson, Sillinger, Roslovic and Nyquist should be a decent PP2 next season, plus you could put Chinakov or Marchenko out there too.

Pulju was spectacularly unlucky and has extremely good underlyings. Likely he's the next nichushkin.

You basically described Bemstrom too… there was a major reason Jarmo didn’t take him in 2016 when he was the clear cut 3rd pick in the draft, I can’t see Jarmo taking him now that he hasn’t done anything for 5 seasons.

Also please don’t overrate underlying metrics, part of them is also who he is on a line with. He was on a line with McDaivd and Hyman and as a line they scored 11 goals at even straight, they played almost 250 minutes together last season (highest of any forward line in Edmonton)

The reason we passed on him had nothing to do with Pulju. It's because PLD was better

Every mock draft from 2016 had Matthews at 1, Laine at 2, Puljujarvi at 3, and PLD at 5 or 6. Columbus took a chance and reached on PLD because there was something he didn’t like on Puljujarvi and something he liked about PLD, hazard to say he got it right.

This is pretty funny looking back on it.
