As a Hawks fan, not enough. It took the #13 OA pick for Dubas to dump $6.25M. You're trying to dump $8.6M.

we are better served buying out than giving up assets

Leafs save like $1m per year dumping Mrázek vs. buying him out. Where is $8.6m coming from?

Marleau was taking up 6 mil in one season compared to mrazeks 3.8x2. Mrazek was also a fine tandem goalie before this season and will most likely rebound considering how goalies work. The value has already been rumoured to be around an abruzzese level prospect so no chance leafs have to pay a 1st to move it. At that point they just buy him out as there's still cap space remaining.

That's the amount of cash owed to Mrazek as of today. 100% agreed that the buyout is the most likely option. No doubt about that. BUT if you're looking to trade him away...you can't ignore what the acquiring team would have to pay him. If you're suggesting the acquiring team buy him out...(4) years of cap constraints...not interested.

This is pure bias here. Mrazek's been consistently inconsistent for 5 straight years. He's been behind VERY good defenses too. Imagine the career -18.2 GSAA behind the worst defense in the league? I've been on the record that either Abruzzese or Roni and a 2nd is sufficient. It likely won't need a 1st.

It wasn't the #13 at the time, and Marleau's contract was a 35+, meaning there was no cap relief from a buyout (or retirement I believe). MUCH harder to move than Mrazek's deal.

The Leafs aren't giving away a ton of assets to move Mrazek, IF they move him. He's currently their only NHL-level goaltender on the roster.

That's why I said a 1st isn't likely. I've already factored this in. a 2nd and either Roni/Abruzzese should get it done.
