Detroit accepts, a bunch of people will say that Calgary has to attach a 1st or 2nd to it but I think a 4th is worth the risk. If he gets healthy, Yzerman can flip him for more then the 4th we gave up. If not he helps us get to the cap floor. Win win.

We do need more goal scorers. Kempe-Kopitar-Toffoli

I’d rather give a mid round pick for Kerfoot but sure on Monahan if this was option 87.

I don't like the idea of helping out a division rival. I'd prefer to see the Leafs struggle to get out from underneath their cap issues.

I think Calgary adds a low end prospect or even a pick swap of some sort but for Detroit to get a a guy that could bounce back while still having crazy amounts of cap space is a solid move all around. They either move him at the deadline, re sign him to a lower number going forward or let him walk for next to nothing if it doesn't work out. Could be a trade with a bunch on conditions on picks and stuff too.

No one here says that Calgary has to surrender a 1st or 2nd round pick for Sean Monahan, He's still a risk a 3rd round is more than a fair sweetener for a 4th rounder.

I’d still rather not take on Monahan let alone pay for the contract. Let some other team take his cap hit and we use the space wisely.
