The rule is that as long as Matt Murray isn't a Leaf he's garbage. But if the Leafs acquire him he then becomes a Vezina favourite. Murray is a former Soo Greyhound. This shouldn't surprise anyone.

Something like a duo of :
Murray (3 mill)
Vanecek or Allen

Would not be a idea tbh

Moves like this is why Toronto won't go beyond the 1st round so long as Dubas is in charge. Why on earth would they pass on re-signing Campbell who has proven to be a fit for the Leafs and just getting a solid 1B to split the load and instead go for a goalie who is cooked in the NHL level? I don't care where Murray did his junior hockey, trading for him would be incredibly stupid and infuriating to see for Leafs and non-Leafs fans alike.

Mrazek for Murray retained yes, I would do that. BUT Matt Murray cannot be the number one option going into the season under ANY circumstance.

Mrazek save percentage was in the 800s , Murray was in the .900s . And Mrazek had the better D in front of him

Mrazek was hurt and that tanked his numbers, but he also put up better numbers than Murray the previous 2 years.

You have to know pretty much nothing about hockey, and particularly goaltending, to think that Mrazek is anywhere as good as Murray

Murray could be good for the Leafs but he has an inflated AAV. We would have to take Mrazek back and probably retain too. Sens goal would be to save $$$

Problem with Murray is would he be able to stay healthy when he gets in a groove? It hasn't been the case for like 5 straight seasons... this is way too risky for Toronto

So mrazek is worse than Murray because he couldn't get into a groove because he got hurt, but Murray is actually good because he couldn't get into a groove because he was hurt?

That's oddly suspicious

Outside of his first 7 games in Ottawa (to put things in PERSPECTIVE, his defense was Nikita Zaitsev, Josh Brown, Braydon Coburn, Erik Gudbranson, Mike Reilly, Christian Wolanin and Thomas Chabot), he has been good after that, despite the popular belief and despite not being to be able to get in a groove. He even had stretches of dominance, until he got injured again and again

The "groove" thing is far from being the WHOLE argument...

Good goalies put up at least decent numbers behind even the worst teams. Murray has not put up decent numbers in years.
Mrazek put up good numbers when he was healthy in Toronto and games where he was hurt or just off recovering tanked his, so why doesn't he get that excuse?

Murray had 0.919 in 2018-19

He hasn't played much since... 38 GP, 27 GP and 20 GP

He's probably the most injury prone player in the NHL

I would be actually surprised of he gets cleared for NHL contact. If he was my brother let's say, I wouldn't want that to happen, he's had like 4-5 concussions

And mrazek had a 923 in 20-21 and a 914 in 18-19.
He's shown more recently that he's a better goalie, which was my point
