Description

Doesn't solve our need for a 2C. Give Nolan Patrick another chance to prove himself. Who knows, maybe he's our guy. Shore up LD until the rest of the prospects are ready. Both tradeable if that happens fast. Dadonov could be flipped at the deadline when we miss the playoffs again. Waive one of Smith or Oesterle if everyone is healthy. I think this team improves, but probably misses the playoffs.

it will probably be way cheaper to dump dadonov since he has only 1 year left now.

I hope Edvinsson makes the team out of training camp but I doubt it.
Even Calder favorite Seider developed for 1 year in the AHL and another in the SHL before making the team.

Playing Edvinsson on 3rd line D with Lindstrom wouldn't be good for him learning the game at the NHL level.
Low minutes & a lot of mistakes is what I'd forecast for that 3rd line D.

Besides, Johansson is better defensively and scores more than Edvinsson as well as being much more reaady to step in. He doesn't have the same high ceiling that Simon has but is a much better bet to make the roster while Edvinsson gets a year in Grand Rapids to mature just like Seider did.

I agree that Edvinsson isn't a sure thing to make the roster, but I think at least one spot will go to a rookie defenseman and Edvinsson probably has the inside track per GMSY's comments. Could be Wallinder or Johansson otherwise. I put him on that pair to put him with Lindstrom. I think that's a better pairing for a rookie than Hronek.
